What you first have to do is to recall the error code from the memory washer. The procedure is written in the user manual you received when you purchased the machine(white envelope inside the washer casing) but basically, you need to wake up the machine by pressing any button, wait for 5 long seconds, and then press the start and pause/cancel simultaneously. You hold the 2 buttons pressed together for a few seconds and then the machine will display the error code. If you see E47, you need to change the door lock module. In the manual, E47 or E48 refers to test #9 which is to measure the resistance of the PTC heater (white little piece acting as a relay) If you see something around 1500 ohms, this part really is defective. Careful with the error code: If you un-hooked a cable and started the machnie to make some test, the machine will probably store another error code in its memory. In order for the machine to show you the real problem, you need to hookup everything back and start a cycle. That will reset the previous error and store the valid one.
Possible that the fault seems related to the control panel but it will be also related to the water level sensor. It is important that the input valve must be checked to be cutting off if the water level reaches the set point. If not the drain and spin can be affected.
Take a look at this webpage for information on the Neptune no spin problem.

Central bearing and seal are damaged. Very expensive repair and very expensive parts. Maytag does not sell bearings separately, they're only available with the outer tub, which is $400-$500; Repair itself is another 2-3 hours of hard work. Do the math...
