Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-27FS100 27" TV
I have sound but no picture when I turn on the TV, and the standby light flashes 4 times then shuts the TV off a few seconds later. This happened once before and I unplugged the TV and put it into another electrical socket and it solved the problem. But this time I have tried this and it does not work. Any suggestions.
The 4 blinks usually indicate a vertical problem. If you can solder, you can fix this yourself. Let me know if you wish to attempt this repair. If not, expect a parts cost of $10-$15 plus the local labor rate for the repair.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but the problem you've described can't be fixed with troubleshooting. Your TV will have to be repaired. There is a part that has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. If you're still in warranty, the TV will be repaired at no charge to you. The warranty would likely be at least one year from the date of purchase from the manufacturer. If you purchased an extended service plan they will repair the TV at no charge as well.
If the TV is no longer in warranty, it will likely cost a minimum of $150 parts and labor. This is assuming that you only need one circuit board or small part. If the problem is more than one of the circuit boards, the price of repair could go much higher.
I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly. Just decrease the screen voltage by adjusting the screen contron on the LOT, a little bit counter clocwise. Increased screen volgage also can make this fault. OK
