Question about Sony 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo Memory Card

Open Question

Psp mem stick wont load, psp freezes when it tries

Whenever I try to load my 1GB memory stick when booting up my PSP, all that happens is the screen turns on, the orange light turns on saying that it's trying to load the memory stick, and it freezes, i have to take the battery out to turn it off. If i put it in post boot, and put it in, it won't read it, and will freeze if i try to load a UMD. If I play the UMD and put the memory stick in after that, it says that it is unreadable.

I forgot to mention, my friend ran it over with a chair, it worked after that, and it has done this before. I was able to fix it once somehow, but it only worked for the past week, and now does not work again.

SOURCE: psp not saving or loading

Hi Spazza2,

Did yout try using the same UMD game your brother was using and see if the game format has anything to do with it?  Since you upgraded, the UMD game may be old, and might not work with Version 3.71. It sounds like your PSP is working just  fine other than that.

In saved data utility, appears there is no memory stick inserted but it has. i cannot play my games because of the problem.

Hi.
Looks like a broken memory stick!

  • Try another memory stick, if it works or open your memory stick in any computer just to check if it is still working.
  • Open the mem stick in your PSP to check also if it is being read, if not, clean the gold contact points, and try it again in your PSP.
  • If the mem stick can be read by your PSP, that means the program is already corrupted and you have to format it.
  • If it still not working the problem is the mem stick is now broken

Hope that helps you out!

No source will read my memory stick pro duo mark 2

  1. Try re-formatting your memory stick from your PSP console. A memory stick that is formatted from a PC or other hand held console sometimes cause incompatibility problem with the PSP.
  2. If your PSP still can not read the memory stick, try checking your memory stick by using your friends PSP and see if they can access the memory stick.
  3. If the memory stick can be accessed by your friends PSP then there is a problem with the memory slot of your PSP.
  4. The only way to check the contacts of the memory slot of your PSP is to disassemble you PSP and take out the mother board.

Psp not reading mem card- says no games.

The firmware you are talking about is a chiped psp, iso and cso games mean that they have been copied and put on the pc so u can play them for free, but there is one problem u need to 'chip' your psp the way u can do this is get 'pandoras battery' and 'magic memory stick' and chip it, do it manualy from help sites on the internet or get a friend thats psp is 'chiped and ask him to chip yours with his battary and memory stick

Memory stick does not work

Use a Card reader to format your Memory stick and then put it back to your PSP and again format. Some times the PSP wont recognise memory stick and contents in it.
