Re: instruction manual for usb.2.0 160
You shouldn't need an instruction manual. Insert the USB plug into a USB port. Windows will recognize a new device. Then go to "My Computer". Find the USB drive, right-click on it and choose format. You probably want to format it as FAT32 if you are going to use this drive on multiple computers (for compatibility), otherwise format in NTFS.

Assuming you are using a Windows operating system, you can just plug it into your computer's USB ports, and the computer will recognise it as another hard drive.
Instructions: Double-click on 'My Computer' and take note of what drive letters are there (C:, D:, etc.) before you plug in the Seagate Freeagent. Plug in the Seagate Freeagent. You'll see the new drive, likely E: or F: (depending on what is already there before you plugged in the Seagate Freeagent) Double-click on the new drive, and it'll open up and you'll see the files stored on that drive. You can drag and drop files and save to this drive like any other folder on your computer.
Your External Drive should be plug and play enable since it is a USB Drive.
Connect the appropriate cables to the External Drive and from the External Drive to the Computer while the computer is fully booted.
The driver for the Drive is loaded else you will be promted that the system have found a new device, if that is the case, put the CD-ROM that came drive and follow the instruction to complete the driver installation.
Open my computer icon on your desktop and you see the external drive.
Open up the control panel with the drive connected, open administrative tools and computer management. Select storage and see if the drive is listed there. It will probably let you format it from there.
They do not come with printed guide for cost reasons but you can view, download and print your own from the link below.
Hope this helps FixYa,
If your USB ports do not supply enough power (older computers) then the drive may fail to show up in My Computer.
The Seagate should have a special Y cable. There are two USB
connectors on one end that must both plug into your computer - one for
data and power - the other for power only. The other end of the cable
has the mini USB which plugs into the Seagate.
