My D100 will not accept CF cards

When I install a CF card in my D100 I get a message "This card cannot be used" and a flashing CHA where it should tell how many shots left. Pins appear to be fine. Bought new card. No difference. Any thoughts?

You can always try the reset button. It is under the flap where the USB/Video out/ and power connector is. It is just above the power connector.

Answer fdound in owners manual: CHA=This card cannot be used. Try deleting files, try formatting card in camera, not pc) try different card. remove card, press hardware reset button on bottom of camera and reinsert card then try again.

Took the memory card out of my camera yesterday. when i put it back in it displays CHA on the screen. what happened? i can't use my camera.

The CHA error indicates an issue with the memory card in the camera.

Try another card and see if that works ok.

Also, always format cards in the camera.

In case the error comes back on a new card, you will need to send the camera to Nikon.

I will appreciate your feedback and positive rating for this free solution.

Do the Nikon D100 and the D70 share the same in camera Compact Flash unit - not cards - but the hardware to accept and read the CF card? I have a bent pin in the D70 and want to know if I can change out...

I understand what your're looking for.

The D100 is basically an N80 with digital guts. It doesn't share the same chassis as the D70, although it does share the same excellent battery.

Other than that, the D70 was a new design, so it doesn't seem too likely that they would have the same CF sockets.

That being said, unless I had them both stripped apart on the table in front of me, I wouldn't make any bets. It just seems like there would be slight differences in mounting holes and configuration.

NIKON D100 LCD DISPLAY FLASHING CHA ERROR WITH ANY CF 1 GIG

I had the same problem and thought I had looked closely at the pins in CF slot but after finally taking it to a repair shop, the tech showed me a bent pin. It really wasn't that apparent first time around. He told me its a common problem as long as they use the CF cards. I had the pins replaced and my D100 is working great. Best of luck.

Nikon D70, displaying error code 'CHA' when memory card inserted. Unable to format or use memory card. Have tried new memory card, still same problem.

CHA errors indicate a communication issue with the CF card. Your card could be going bad, you could have a broken pin, or any number of other problems.

I'm running into this same problem now. If anyone has a good step-by-step to troubleshoot which of the dozen things this error could be, I'd appreciate it.

For myself, I'm planning to start by trying a new CF card.

Card error or camera error?

I am having the same issue with every CF card I put in the camera. But when I put the CF cards in other card readers, the pictures are able to be viewed. Not sure why the camera isn't recognizing the pics on the cards???
