I have a Vista and I've reinstalled the software quite a couple of times, but it refuses to be used. I've reverted to the pad... Usable, but I'd love to finally use my mouse!

I suudenly had the light not coming on and a battery change would not help. I discovered that a small black springloaded piece coomes out of the side of the area where the usb connector rests to turn it off. The small black piece is pushed back when the USB connector (notebook receiver) is pushed into the mouse. The small black piece was sticking and not coming all of the way out. I took a cotton swab and alcohol and cleaned around it and took a small screw driver and pushed it in and out until it freely moved all of the way out which turns the light on and eureka, it worked!!!! On a negative note, it took me the better part of an hour to figure this out.

the light on my microsoft wireless notebook optical mouse isnt coming on and a battery change is no help. I fiddled with the small black springloaded pieces but still nothing. The usb connector has no green lite at all, but the mouse itself flashes red. I haven't a clus as to what happened but my son did take the connector apart to see if anything was fried & I'm wondering if that spiral disk was put in correctly....all I know is that it doesnt work & I need help :(

I had the same problem with Microsoft wireless optical notebook mouse, no light indicated on the hardware but the USB plugin is lid up, however after fiddle for a while I found out the truth problem, is that hardware itself is the main circuit board and the back end where's the battery compartment and the wheel touching the board is bad, again, I'll be able to manipulated for a second and after soldered together is back to work and now it is DEATH once again, so this is nothing about the drivers has been loaded improper or missing drivers that also could be truth by user mishandled, after all this is a true hardware itself..so blamed it on the crews that put them together..not Microsoft no Offend?

Microsoft Notebook optical mouse 3000 not working

Have you tried changing the port in which the USB wireless receiver is plugged?

Or is the receiver internal to the notebook?

If the receiver is internal, try updating the drivers for your machine by navigating to the manufacturer's support site.

If you plug a wired mouse into the machine what happens? If you get the same result, it may indicate a problem with the USB settings on your machine. I would, again, suggest updating the drivers for your machine.

If that's the case, try plugging another USB device into the machine and see if it works properly.

If none of those options provide results, I recommend you return the mouse for a refund or a replacement, especially if you have the receipt.

I hope I was able to help you. Good luck!

Microsoft wireless mouse 3000 - all lights are on; flash upon reset, but still doesn't work. Running Vista 64-bit.

Try to take off battery and next push and hold down the small button that protrudes where the receiver is placed in the mouse, put back battery and simultaneusly release the button,it might make the mouse operate correctly. Good luck!!!! Chawah.

Receiver light is steady green. mouse won't light up. cursor won't move.

Why don't you try at the moment of placing a new battery to see if the small button that protrudes, where the receiver is located at the bottom of the mouse is pressed down. Without the receiver in place that **** on must be out for as long as the receiver is in the USB port.
Good luck!!!

I had the same problem.
Press the button on the underside of the USB, the green light will flash. Now press the reset button on the underside of the mouse. Your mouse should now work.
