Question about Sanyo Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Sanyo CE5949 tv and recently when you turn it on the picture has shrunk between two vertical lines which are practically on top of each other. When I mess around with the scart at the back of the tv it returns to a full picture, but then can disappear into 2 vertical lines soon after. I have checked the scart and and it has 20 pins(not sure if that is the right term) and they all look fine. What do you suggest?

Dry solder joints on the scart socket. If you are capable open up the tv and re-solder the socket to the board making sure that there is enough solder on the pins of the socket all the way round but not too much so as to cause a short. If you are not able to do this ask a competant technician. Good luck.

Sony KF50WE610 Vertical Blue Lines Across Screen

the vertical blue lines indicate some interference from other electronic gadgets near your tv. it started showing up on my sony grand wega when i installed my wireless modem. i almost ordered a new rear projection lamp costing over $100 but decided to experiment. i first moved my desk computer farther away from the tv then isolated the wireless modem router by placing it inside a small glass - the vertical blue lines became lighter in color so i dedided to find another small glass that fit inside the first glass container then put the router in the double glass - no more blue lines and my wireless modem router still works.
do some deductive thinking to figure out what's messing up your tv and isolate the interference.
good luck!

Time to time I get only a horizontal line on picture tube of my 26" Sanyo TV

take it apart, there will be a chip like la7835 (then number might be different) it will be an upright chip. 7-15 pins. solder it. if you cant find the chip take it apart and turn it on and tap on all the heatsinks and the line should appear when you tap the vertical chip. then resolder it, and if you want it to last longer replace the 100@25-50v capacitor next to it

I have a 26" Sanyo

The vertical IC either has bad connections on it or hit has failed completely. These are common ICs and are available for about $12-$20. If you can solder, you should be able to repair this yourself. Open up the back and look for a small flat IC with about 11 pins attached to a heat sink. It will be marked LA7837 or something similar. Try resoldering the pins first. If that fails to resolve the problem, replace the IC. If you have any question about whether or not you have the correct part, post the marking here and I'll confirm the part.

Keep us posted.

When you say small do you mean shrunk up top and bottom as well as from side to side. You definitely have a deflection problem either horizontal or vertical. If the picture just shrunk top and bottom you have a vertical deflection problem. Do you have the service manual for your model? If not let me know and I will email you one. Describe the shrinking issue a little more and I should be able to give you some guidance.

Sounds like some kind of local interference. The first thing I'd try is disconnect the antenna input. If the wavy line goes away, it's probably something coming in through the antenna. Then I would start shutting off the circuit breakers until I was down to just the one the set is plugged into. If it goes away I would start flipping the breakers on, one by one until the noise returned. If you can isolate it to one circuit, start looking at everything that is on that circuit. If all else fails, call a TV tech.
