Please check if the physical volume switch is not muted. Also, please check for the hot key for mute. It might have been enabled. Thank you. Hope this helps.

How do i find out what kind of sound card to get for an acer aspire notebook 5315 series. It was bought at a yard sale and has windows 7 on it. Everything works but the sound

Hi Bonnie,

You should check Windows 7 Control Panel's device manager. See if the sound is disabled or if it indicates that it "has a problem" Try to re-enable it - or failing that - uninstall the sound card and click the box that says "remove files". Reboot with an internet connection (wifi or wired). Let windows detect the "new" sound hardware. Check any hardware volume control and set to a mid - high level point. After Windows downloads and installs the driver - follow instructions - reboot if asked. Then test the sound. Check software volume controls in control panel and verify that the sound is enabled. Try using the headphone jack if internal speakers are not producing sound. Once sure that the sound card is loaded, enabled and volume is set to mid - high and neither the internal speakers or external headphone do NOT work, you can consider selecting a new sound source that can use a USB port or PCMCIA (PC Card Slot) depending on your needs and port / slot availability on the laptop. Links below for both styles. Good luck!

The volume of my aspire note book is very low what can i do to fix it

Well, either your windows volume (normal volume control in the bottom right corner of your screen) or whatever program you're running to produce the sound (iTunes, Media Player, etc.) is probably turned down low. Check that first, otherwise, your speakers are probably dying, and need to be replaced (quite the fix).
I hope this helps!

Double click the "speaker icon" on the right bottom bar to open the
volume control menu.

Check be sure that the check box "mute all" on the bottom of volume control

Hi, i bought last week acer 5742 aspire laptop when i play music on that only left side sound system activate right side sounds remain quit

This model comes only with 1 speaker which is located on the left side.
You can see it if you look from top down above the speakers with good lighting.

Although they list it as setero in the spec, it is actually not.

No sound on the speaker.

common issues with no notebook sound are volume physical switch turned down. mute sometimes checked off under the speaker by the clock some laptops have a Fn button that corresponds with keys either on the numbers or F keys above. look for anything that would work with a Function key combination (often in a blue color) printed on the keys themselves. another common issue is , in the control panel under sound /sound properties people sometimes tick of the "Digital output only" which effectively mutes the speakers. one last thing. sometimes on laptops volume settings dont look like buttons , but are responsive to touch. look for a volume slider image and play with that too. hope that helps, cheers.

Sound is not working

There are some possible reasons why the sound is not working. It could be the volume control is in "MUTE", or the right sound card is not selected in the volume properties, or the speaker is defective.

Here's what you need to do:

1. Try to connect an external 2-channeled PC speaker. The computer should recognize the speaker and the sound should be transferred to the PC speaker. If the sound works on the PC external speaker, then you know that the volume control is NOT in mute and the sound card is selected. It means also that the built-in speakers could be defective.

2. If the same problem occur after connecting an external PC speaker, check the volume control, and make sure that the "MUTE" box is not checked. Then adjust the master volume.

* If everything's properly configured, but there's still no sound, check the volume properties under the Control Panel. Be sure that the correct sound card driver is selected. If that did not help, try to re-install the sound card driver.

* And the last option, contact the manufacturer and have them fix it for you.

Thank you and good luck!
