Question about Epson CX8400 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Carrier jams hard against left wall of printer, get error cant do a thing
Mine was doing this today and I found a push pin had fallen into it and was inside where the ink slides. I couldn't see it until I got a flashlight in there. Once I removed it, all was good and it works well again!

I don't know your printer so this may not be the problem.
Check inside with a flashlight and look for a plastic band laying in the wrong place; this is a clear ribbon with very fine vertical lines on it that the printer uses to 'count off' its position. Normally, a printer will go to one or the other end so it knows where to start counting to determine where it must go and identify its arrival at a particular character position as directed by the software sending the data.
These bands can break or become contaminated so it is no longer clear where the carriage is or where to go next.
If you find such a band and it is intact, clean it gently with glass cleaner and soft cloth or paper towel and reinstall it, threading it through the slot in the carriage where the optical path is located that 'reads' the stripes.
All printers using this type of technology will have one static hook for one end and a second that is a leaf spring with a hook for the other end of the band.
