It means its not reading the file.
Ensure you saved it as .txt using notepad

Any other format will not work.

There are a few things you have to be certain with.
Firstly, be sure it is definitely a .txt file, otherwise, the iPod can't show it.
Or, it could be your note is too big. The iPod usually shows upto 4KB of notes in one note, and then for you to get the rest, you have to split them up into seperate notes. One note holds about 4096 characters, but there are websites that can split your notes for you.
My favourite is http://ebookhood.com/ipod-ebook-creator
You can put in .txt files and you will get out all your .txt files back in a folder, which you can the rename (the folder only.), and then when you put the folder in to your iPod's Notes folder, you will then get on your iPod a list of notes. And then end of the first note is a button you can press to access the second, so it's very handy.
On the same website, you can copy and paste text or give it a website URL or even an RSS feed.
If you have a Microsoft Word file, the best thing to do to get it on your iPod (Remember, you'll only get words, no underling, boldness, italics or pictures) is to either "Save As..." and choose at the bottom of the box that comes up, a .txt file, or to copy and paste all of your Document, but going into it and clicking Ctrl+A, then pasting into the Convert Text part of http://ebookhood.com/ipod-ebook-creator
Hope I helped,
Jon.

Hi,

Click "Start"
Click "My computer"
Switch to the classic view (if you're using Windows XP.)
Click "Folder Options"
Click the tab called "View"
Check "Show hidden files or folders"
If you also wish to view system files, Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files"
Plug in your iPod.
Wait for it to load completely.
Open My Computer (or computer if on Vista). Make sure you can view hidden files.
Go to iPod_control.
Go to the folder named Device.
If your iPod is locked, there will be a file _locked . Rename the file to _unlocked.
Safely remove your iPod and it will be cleared.

VOLUME

Warning!
  • Don't listen to music to loudly. It will destroy your hearing.

Steps(Windows)
  1. Enable hidden folders.
Go to "Tools", "Folder Options". Then click on the tab called "View", and under "Hidden Files and Folders", click "Show Hidden Files and Folders". I honestly do not know how to do this on a mac. I'm simply stupid.
  2. Navigate to the hidden folder named "iPod_Control", and once there click on the folder "Device". Once there, delete the file named "_volumelocked".
  3. Eject your iPod. Then, restart your iPod. You can do this by holding down the center and menu button for at least 6 seconds.
  4. Once your iPod has rebooted, check and make sure that it worked. Simply go into "Settings", "Volume Limit". If it asks for a PIN, you did it WRONG. Retry the above procedure.
