Question about Dacor Epicure ERD30 Dual Fuel (Electric and Gas) Kitchen Range

Oven starts, then shuts off; won't stay on

I press any oven function (bake, broil, convection bake, convection broil, pure convection, or clean), then I press the "+" time-temperature function button as instructed. The oven starts to heat, and if applicable, the fan starts running. Then, after four to twelve seconds, the oven shuts off.

We have had the stove for years, and this problem has only just now appeared.

    The fan works just fine. I just tried "convection bake" again and watched (and heard) it spin - until the whole process shut down, as it always does now.

    At first I thought the problem was related to the cancel-secure button, but that does not seem to be the case. When the stove is secured, by pressing that button for 4 seconds, nothing will operate at all (and the screen indicates "OFF"). Pressing the cancel-secure button again for 4 seconds unlocks the functions of all the buttons, but still the oven will only operate for a short time before shutting down.

    I question the latest suggestion, because it implies a circuit-breaker is disconnecting the electrical supply due to an overload, and then resetting, whereas in fact the range is never without power. In fact, if I press an operational button (say convection bake), and then the time-temp "+" key to get the oven operating, I can keep it going for an indefinite time period by simply re-pressing the convection bake button every four seconds or so. But as soon as I stop that intermittent button-pushing, the oven shuts down. There must be some sort of mis-guided electronic commmand shutting down the unit.

    I am posting to try to avoid having to call the service guy. I will do that if I have to, but that is a solution I have always had from the beginning. As to the possibility of it being a problem with the circuit, see my note above.

This is a control panel board problem.Try to unplug the unit and leave it no power supply overnight in order the residual charge in the component parts is gone. The idea is to erase the memory stored in control panel. Then after the overnight,then replug again the unit.

Hi jim,

may i suggest to check the keypad. this problem is intermittent which leads me to believe that you are loosing connection between the keypad and the control board behind it.

do you get any error messages on the display?

This a problem with your pc board the fan works the elements heats. I'm an appliance tech and run into this problem all the time. If this oven is a year or younger it's under warranty

Check ur operating attenuator,solenoid,latch and entire wiring connection in ur device..

Since, it works only for short time, I believe something is wrong with the circuit.
I would suggest you to call the service guy and fix it.

You have an overload problem or your reset circuit breaker in the unit is weak. thus why it powers up and then shut's off. this only applies to the electric application. If you are using the gas feature it is most likely that your regulator is sensing back pressure and therefore shutting the valve body down

    it's obvious you have a power supply issue. As I stated earlier that it turns on and shut's off immediately means that there is an overload in your power circuit

Possibly something wrong with your fan, for example its blocked or just worked its self out and with the fan not running, the oven probably switches off as a saftey procedure. I reccomend seeing a repairman to have a look at it.

Oven won't heat.


Good Afternoon Gwen - Try reprogramming the range by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and turn the unit back on. If issue persists, then the unit could possibly be experiencing an issue with a wiring failure, EOC (electronic oven control), sensor probe and/or faulty bake or broil element. I would strongly recommend consulting a professional to narrow down the precise issue before investing in parts that may or may not be the root cause.

Most likely the problem is your bake element. When the oven is preheating it uses both the bake and the broil element. When it's done preheating it uses only the bake element, so the broil element is heating it up, and since the bake element is not working the temperature drops until it starts preheating again.

Neither the oven or broil element comes on. No error code appears, any thoughts?


Hi.

If both broiling and baking element are not heating, then the most common fault causing the problem is a defective temperature probe.

The probe is located inside the oven cavity.
On most ovens there is only one temperature sensor, connected in line on the circuit from electroning oven control to baking and broiling element.
When the probe fails, it will affect both baking and broiling function.

The temperature probe is tested reching the probe, cutting or disconnecting its wiring, and testing the probe at room temperature, with a multimeter set on impedance at Rx1. If the multimeter reads no continuity (circuit open), then the probe must be replaced.

If the temperature probe is good, then parts that may be responsible for the fault are oven electronic control and wiring. Having both elements failing at the same time would be rather unusual.

Hi Tom. Salesmen love the phrase 'self-clean'. As a Tech I came to know this function as 'self-destruct'. The entire oven locks down so that owners cannot release air inside the oven that reaches 700-800 degrees during this 3hr. cycle. The control board routes max current through its circuits for most of this time, and over repeated cycles, causes eventual failure in almost all boards. Symptoms and errors vary- consistent with multiple failures of either resistors at power junctions, or internal processor errors that accompany heat related damage. FIRST- disconnect power and check resistance for elements- broil/bake/conv. If all have resistance and are not OPEN, control is probably bad. Control part # AP4422522 Whirlpool available for $157.52 or so thru local or on line parts. Installation is not difficult......power Off..... Advice- drip pans, aluminum foil, if boil over is possible---protect from contact with bottom of oven. Avoid using 'self-clean' by preventing or minimizing spills. Hope this helps- Thanks- ED

Heating elements are protected by a fusable link that is a one time fuse that is meant to protect the stove from overheating. It sounds like the elements need to be replaced

My upper oven/ convection function on my dacor ecs230b will not heat


Bake and convection bake settings both use the bottom bake element to heat. It would be unusual for bake to work without conv. bake working. You also have pure convection which uses a different element surrounding the conv. fan on the back of the unit. If you press a feature and nothing happens it's the touch pad. If it comes on then turns back off it's probably the ERC (clock). If it comes on and wont heat only in pure conv. possibly an upper relay board or element problem.

Open high limit or bad relay most likely.
The relays are located on the back side.
The limit I am not sure where it is stashed.
