When I try to fax and hit the send fax button in the window recieve appears
I have a intellifax 775 with the same problemso I purchased a new intellifax 885, set it up and tried to fax and the machine displays recieve instead of send. I do not know how to correct this problem. I have a DSL and tried connecting directly to the wall and bypassed the DSL filters and still had this problem. I am at a loss. Any help would be appreciated

The 2820 should have a handset. In order to use manual transmission (when you get to hear all the beeps and whistles) you will need to load the document then pick up the handset. then dial the number, when you hear the recieving fax tone then hit the start button.
The 2820 should also have a hook hold button pressing this will allow you to hear the dial tone and the numbers you dial along with the receiving fax tone. If you dont hear anything when you press this button then you may want to use the volume buttons to increase the volume.
Also remember that if you have not picked up the handset or pressed he hook/hold button the unit will use automatic mode, which is to say that all you will do is load the document, dial the number, and then press the start button.
check it is in fax mode in setting ------try to clean with air blower and soft cloths------check inside for any foreign object droped inside(pins--stapler-any small pieces of torn paper.------check microswitches in paper path for broken lever and test it with your hand and feel free moving.
There is no installation CD for this machine. The machine sends, receives and copies. The machine will not connect to a computer and does not need a CD to perform it's functions. Years ago Brother had a 770 which is the father of 775 that connected to a computer by purchasing software and a cable(PCI-1). This software is outdated and does not work well with any of the current windows programs. Most Brother ink-jet and laser products will connect to a computer via an installation CD or down loading the drivers from Brother.com. None of their thermal machines will connect to a computer.
