How to play with USB game pad of quantum(QHMPL group). On loading the driver from the given CD it shows that "please ensure that direct 7.0 is installed.

Was there even USB when DirectX 7.0 was released? I guess so. Ignore it and install anyhow (since DirectX 11...14 are in the API of newer OS than Win98) or pick some drivers that don't require 18-year-old Microsoft bundling.

The company's drivers are at http://www.qhmpl.com/drivers.html (with yours at the bottom, I think) and there are probably better substitutes; in fact, I kind of expect that current Linux and Windows versions have drivers built in so you could just plug in the thing and have a working controller, force feedback controls et al. But maybe you need that ol' thing.

I cannot get into my files

Hi,

Check in event viewer to see if chkdsk ran. Normally when chkdsk runs, it throws an event into the event log.
It should be in the Application event log. Lets verify that it did run.

To fix any corrupt system files, lets try System File checker.
Click Start
Click All Programs
Click Accessories and right click on the Command Prompt.
Select the Security Tab and choose "Run as Administrator"
Click on Command Prompt
Type SFC /Scannow.
This will scan and fix any corrupted operating system files.

If you are still having problems after a SFC scan, then we can try a In-Place Upgrade which will do a repair of the operating system. You will need to have the DVD installation disk. An OEM recovery disk will not suffice.

Note: After performing In-Place Upgrade, your personal data and installed programs will not be removed but we may need to run Windows Update to install all the available updates for your system to update these system files to the current version. This troubleshooting process is time consuming and may take several hours to complete.

If your DVD installation disk is prior to Sp1, and you have SP1 installed on your computer, you will need to uninstall SP1 to complete the in-place upgrade and then reinstall the necessary windows updates .

If you would like to perform the In-place Upgrade, let's refer to the following steps.

1. Start the computer by using the current Operating System.

2. Insert the Windows Vista DVD in the computer's DVD drive.

3. Use one of the following procedures, as appropriate:

• If Windows automatically detects the DVD, the Install now screen appears. Click Install now.

• If Windows does not automatically detect the DVD, follow these steps:

a. Click Start, click Run, type Drive:\setup.exe, and then click OK.

Note Drive is the drive letter of the computer's DVD drive.

b. Click Install now.

4. When you reach the "Which type of installation do you want?" screen, click Upgrade to upgrade the current operating system to Windows Vista.

Please run Windows Update again as you will need to download and install the most current updates.

If you do not have the Windows Vista Installation DVD, I suggest contacting your PC manufacturer to order a backup disk.

Please post your feedback and Vote if the problem resolved as per your satisfaction.

Remember, you are a key participant in this process. We are not there, you are. We depend on you to be our eyes and ears. We can only respond to what you provide us.

What you get out of the experience depends on what you put in to it. So help us help you.

It would be also be advantageous in your case to repost your problem so that it starts over at the top of the queue in the proper categoriy.

Best regards

Vista windows installer service corrupt. I work on an air force installation and need to know if I can fix this remotely and what is the fix because the vista computer isn't getting updates.

Download Installer manually from Microsoft. Install per instructions. Vista requires the "6.0" installer, as docs indicate.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=5A58B56F-60B6-4412-95B9-54D056D6F9F4&displaylang=en

Are you sure it's the Installer, though?, Are there event log entries that relate to the failures?

I can't speak to this specific conflict, but generally this type of behavior is caused by buggy software or outdated drivers
The latter can be corrected by updating your hardware drivers. Begin by making sure you have applied all critical security & optional hardware updates available for your system at windows update. Then, you may update your bios, graphics and network adapters, etc. by following the excellent instructions outlined in this tutorial: How to Update Windows Drivers XP. Finally, make sure your system meets the suggested minimun requirements for running that game. You might need to upgrade ram, for example.

You can also take a look at the Application Logs in Event Viewer, to see specifically what error is causing the freeze. (Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Event Viewer). Look for warnings or Errors reported at the time of the application failure. If you right click on the Event ID # and choose properties, you will open an Information window that provides the option to get more information in Help & Support about the particular event in question, and oftentimes this will allow you to take steps to remedy the situation.
That will give you a few opportunities to troubleshoot the cause.
I hope one or the other will provide a solution.

If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take a moment to kindly rate this post....thanks!
