2005 Chrysler Pacifica heater goes from hot to cold by itself.

My wife's Pacifica with 130k miles, suddenly lost it's heater. When the car is warmed up and you turn on the heater, it comes out hot, for a minute or so, then slowly switches to cold air. You have to turn it off for a few minutes, then back on, to get it to go back to heat, but then goes back to cold after a minute. With winter fast approaching, I'm concerned for her ability to defrost the windshield. Any ideas?

Under the dash there are doors that open and close to give you hot or cold. Sounds like you have a vacuum leak in a hose or one of the vacuum motors that moves the door I would hook up a cheep hand held vacuum pump to each one and see if they hold vacuum also the one that opens the door that keeps the heat blowing is the one to look at if the door stays open and you have heat with the hand pump and you don.t have to keep pumping it the hose or farther back is leaking.

I have a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving I heard a faint sound almost like a pop. Then steam coming from the front drivers wheel well. Then I noticed the heater will only blow cold air. Can you...

The pop you referred to was mostly likely a radiator hose rupturing.

The steam would be indicative of a sudden, massive loss of coolant.

Do Not drive until problem is remedied.

Could also have been a radiator tank letting go, but I'd put my money on a hose.

Hoses are a LOT LESS COSTLY, and generally easier to replace.

Good luck!
