now... a more versatile solution is an internal blue ray writer drive with an enclosure.. enclosures are used for people that want to get get an internal item and convert them to external/portable devices. and enclosure is about 30 bucks and that way you can just buy internal devices and put them inside the enclusure and transform a blue ray disk burner into an external hard drive by just swaping in and out internal components from and out your enclosure.

How do I burn files to a disk to play in DVP3140

I'm assuming you're using a recent-build Windows PC. Here's the link from Microsoft: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/burn-a-cd-or-dvd-in-windows-media-player. Media player must be recent enough in version to burn disk media--otherwise, you must obtain a software product that will burn media for you. Your PC must also be equipped with a CD, DVD, or Blu-Ray burner. CD-R disks easily prove available from discount stores, music stores, electronics stores, or online.

As for compatibility, Phillips indicates that CD-R is compatible. I hope that you don't have a problem. That depends upon the media manufacturer and how its product interacts with the Phillips. Compatibility likely won't prove a problem. Certainly, check that out before the next trip....

Unable to create back up due no disc burner

You need an external drive of some sort. You can get an external optical drive/burner. For USB connected DVD burners, these are $30-50 (depending on if they need an AC adapter or not). You can also get an external Blu-ray burner but those are more expensive. Most backup programs may also allow you to create a backup to a USB hard drive or large flash drive. (My backups require at least 32 GB storage.) If you get a Blu-ray burner, you may still be limited to backing up to DL DVDs. (We have an HP with an internal Blu-ray burner that couldn't make the initial backup to Blu-ray.)

If you have any version of Windows 7 (above the Starter version), you can make a backup to a USB drive easily. (I'm not sure about Macs or Unix.) In WIndows 7, click Start > All Programs > Maintenance. Then follow the directions to save a backup.

Follow the directions for the initial backup for HP, Dell, Gateway and other brands after connecting the external drive. Make sure that the laptop is on AC power before burning any backup.

I hope this helps.

I have installed a blue ray writer into mu desktop pc an windows can;t read blueray disks

Hi

You don't say which version of windows you're using or whether the bluray disks you are testing are factory made or created by you.

Playing back any video recorded on media like CDs DVDs or Blu Ray discs requires a video decoder (a program such as PowerDVD or Win DVD). Windows alone cannot do the job.

Burning Bluray disks requires both special blu ray discs and burning software such as Nero. Windows alone cannot do the job

Your Sony Bluray RW should have come with (a) CD(s) to install the Blu ray versions of a Video Decoder and burning softwares and also possibly some Sony programs too.

Install these and then you should be able to watch and burn bluray discs to your heart's content.

Hope this helps.

you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard or you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall your DVD/CD then reinstall the driver for this device
if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down cd dvdrom drives if you see a yellow question or exclamation mark?! or a red x right click you will need to update the driver or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver

Is there a software update for lightscribe for lacie d2 blue ray burner, so that I can burn dvd titles on a disc?

When you say "burn dvd titles on a disc", do you mean to write (laser-etch) the name of the movie on the plastic disk? I am assuming that is what you mean. If not, please describe what you mean. . No, LaCie does not make a Blu-Ray LightScribe drive. This is a technology/hardware problem, not a software problem. . There are a small number of internal (I know you want external) Blu-Ray burners with Lightscribe hardware built in. Here is one: LG LightScribe GGW-H20L Blu-Ray DVD Sata Drive. . The Lightscribe website says no such media exists, even though the drives have been available since June of last year: http://lightscribe.com/products/index.aspx?id=106 Watch that site for info about the media. Once the media is available, you will be able to buy the external drive you want. . Here is a burner for only $4,400 (that is not a typo):http://www.meritline.com/sharkblu-lightscribe-8x-blu-ray-dvd-duplicator-1-11---p-35937.aspx . OK, it is a duplicator (burns up to 11 copies at once), hence the high price, but useless without the media. . BTW - It is a simple matter to buy an external USB2 or FW case and put an internal burner in that case to make an external drive. . --Dave

The appropriate drivers are part of Windows and should be plug and play. (I am assuming this is an internal drive; if it is an external drive on Windows 98 you may have problems. See lge.com for information)

I hope this helps.

Sonic record now program will not find cd drive

  1. Update your drive's firmware/drivers. Most companies regularly update their firmware and drivers. If you are unsure what model your burner is and its firmware, click here to find out.

  2. Enable DMA. Direct Memory Access enables better efficiency of data. For more info, check how to enable DMA.
  3. Your media. Check the following:
    • The disc is clean and unused.
    • The media is recommended by your burner's manufacturer or try a different brand, preferably a name brand, if you continue to have problems.
    • Make sure that media (-R/+R, -/+RW, dual-layer compatibility) is supported by the burner by checking burner's manual or manufacturer's website. This is especially true for some Blu-Ray burners which do not support CD-R/RW media.

  4. Lower the write speed of your burner.
  5. If your burner is external, make sure it is connected directly to the computer via USB/Firewire and not a hub or other other device like a sound card.
  6. Update to the latest PX Engine. The PX Engine improves compatibility with newer burners on the market.
  7. A reinstall of the burner's drivers may also help.
    • Windows XP: Go to My Computer and choose Properties.
    • Windows Vista: Go to Start --> Control Panel --> System and Maintenance --> Device Manager.
    • Click on the Hardware tab.
    • Select Device Manager
    • Expand DVD/CD-ROM Drives, then select your burner and uninstall it by right -licking on it.
    • Reboot.

EZCD 5.0 and EZCD 6.0

I don't think that 6 and 5 are compatible 6 is an upgrade from 5. I have just 5 on one of my old XP computers and it works fine, but that's all I have. I went to the website and they are not giving any support for Roxio 6 anymore.
I will tell you that Roxio Easy Media Creator is fantastic. The things you can do with that are unbelieveable. I got it at Sam's Club for about $70. But I know that does not solve your problem.

Roxio 5
To burn data files, Open project selector, make a data cd, click data cd project. WhenEasy CD Creator 5 opens and you choose your files to burn, try this: Select Disc at Once Radio button, click okay and click burn.

I do know if you have Roxio5 you cannot installed Nero 6 InCD, not compatible. Other than all of the above, I have no more suggestions. I am really sorry, wish I could work on your computer to figure out the problem. This is my specialty. Reloading computer and figuring out problems. It is so much easier hands on.
Good Luck
