Question about Pentax Digital Cameras
I have an Optio L40 - it worked fine one evening and then the next day I went to review the pictures and it wouldn't work properly. When I press the on/off button, the lens comes out as usual, but then makes a really horrible sound like it's stuck, then tries focussing, then goes in and out and then repeats the process making the same noise again and then turns itself off. I have tried several times since in the hope that one time I try it will actually work! The battery is fully charged.
Hope you can help and thanks in advance for your time
SOURCE: Lens stuck
Here is how I fixed this problem. I grasped the lens around the base (larger part) like you would if you were going take off a beer bottle cap.
Very gently while sliding my thumb and index finger around the lens, I rocked it back and forth. DO NOT TRY TO TWIST OR PUSH,.....It felt like it "popped" back on track.
My assumption was it was probably hit from the side, and could not retract, once it was rocked back on track, it worked fine. It felt like it loosened a tiny bit as well.

I have a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30 and my lens was stuck after a trip to the beach. As you turn on the camera, gently tap the bottom of the camera on a hard surface (i.e. a hard cover book). You could also use an air-duster spray to blow out any grains/dust around the lens.

I called the store I bought it from, as well as the Olypmus toll free number. They both told me I had to mail my camera to them with a brief description of the problem. It is still under warranty, but I have to pay for shipping to get it to them. They will repair it and send it back to me. Do not try and fix the camera yourself, instead get it fixed professionally with all the proper tools once and for all.

SOURCE: Olympus FE 230 Problem
I had the same problem. I hit it a long time ago when it did it for the first time. It has been a year since then and it is doing it again. I tried the book solution again and it will not work. I tried holding the lens, no luck, and I tried applying pressure when the lens went back in, again, no luck. Honestly, I don't think I will buy another Olympus fe series camera again. The solutions provided do help the first few times your camera does it, but you might want to start checking the market for a new camera.
