Question about Viking 48" 6 Burner, Grill Professional Series Dual Fuel Range - VDSC485-6Q Dual Fuel (Electric and Gas) Kitchen Range
I have a viking range about 10 years old. The piezo (sp?) ignitor will light the stovetop gas burner but it keeps on trying to light the burner after it is lit...Used to quit after a minute or so once it started doing this but now it won't quit at all.
The problem is with the front left burner only. I can turn on the left rear burner ( where I can see the spark/arc when it's trying to keep lighting the front burner - apparently the same circuit?) without incident. It works fine.
The Viking manual says that an ignitor that continues to try to light even after the burner has been lit indicates improper grounding, and that an electrician should be consulted.
Perhaps you could try to replace the ignitor, and see if that fixes the problem?
I have a similar age, 6-burner 36" rangetop.
