Question about Epson Stylus Pro 9800 InkJet Printer

Epson 9800 has continuous drop out...

We have an Epson 9800 that we use with Artanium inks. We have had it for just over a year and I am about to replace the head for the second time. Back in June, we had continuous drop out on the Cyan nozzles during a huge job. Our ink supplier checked the ink for us and determined that it was the head. We were buying the inks in bulk liters and using the same inks in our Roland, so we agreed . The Epson tech replaced it while I was on vacation. Now, only 3 months later, I have continuous drop out on the Magenta nozzles. I am having to do a cleaning before every print job, which is quite annoyingand wasteful. I am currently on printing with the right side of the head, because I have been unable to get anyone to write me a ICC profile to support both heads. Is this why the head is failing so soon? Can I expect to replace the head about 4 times a year? Any help is appreciated.

We have had the same problems on and off. We run a cal strip and the very next contract proof we lost a nozzle. No one inparticular, sometimes the cyan, or the light cyan, or even the light, light black.
We have them gone over by an epson tech and cleaned when we start to see this happening pretty often. Quite a pricey PM service. at least $600.00 each time they show up. We are not under extended contract.

Epson 9800 wont print large images

    Hi,

make sure that the printer is not managing color by selecting "off (no color adjustment)" in the Printer Color Management option of the printer settings.

Could be a head clog, could be ink starvation, could be head overheating...

How old is it ... ?

Can I turn off the ink counter on 9800?

Why would you want to turn off the counter? Doing so would allow you to run the machine completely dry resulting in major print head damage?

You cannot turn off the counter, but you can purchase a chip resetter.

    Hope this is helpfull

How can i refil an OEM epson 9800 cartridge

there are many aftermarket ink manufacturers out there. I have been printing for 18+ years and have learned the hard way it does not pay to use aftermarket inks. The headache and amount of reprints you must do will eat into your profits and defeat the savings from the ink.

Most aftermarket ink companies also sell a chip resetter with there bulk ink systems.

Again, I highly recomend Epson Ultrakrome Inks
