    Hi,
Without knowing a little more about how this situation developed it is hard to guess at how you should proceed. Did you re-install? Did it just suddenly start requesting reactivation while having been fine before? A number of things can cause this, such as a corrupt registry, hard drive file system, etc.

This may or may not apply to your situation but here goes. BTW let me know what actually happened when it started.

There seems to be nothing else we can do other than reformatting your hard drive and reinstalling your operating system since you cannot go to safe mode and do system restore. The problem is with the OS so it needs to be reinstalled. Hope this helps. Thank you.

Okay if you are able to boot in safe mode, please try to do a system restore (Start-All Programs-Accessories-System Tools-System Restore). Please choose a date when you were not yet being asked for the activation (Choose a different restore point - show restore points older than five days). Please wait until you receive the message that the system restore was successful (Laptop will restart on its own). If this does not work, please do the system recovery using the recovery disks but you will lose all information in the hard drive. The instructions came with the disks (or you can use F12 instead of C and select CD/DVD drive). If after the system recovery you are still being asked for this activation, please explain the problem to Microsoft and let us know us well. Hope this helps. Thank you.

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

My hp pavilion 522a i cant log in to it because it keeps coming up with this copy of windows must be activated with microsoft before you can log on. do you want to activate it no. and no mater what i do it...

You need to activate it, no way around it. When installed you have 30 days to activate it or it won't let you log on.

There should be a a choice to activate and it will only let you go to a activation window. You can do it over the net in a few seconds. After it is done it should work normally. If it is a valid installation you will click a few buttons and you are done. If there is a issue with a valid serial number ie your buddy gave you a copy then you won't be able to activate it (easily anyway) and need to get a new copy to install.
You may need to log on on under administrator before it takes you to the activation stuff but that depends on the windows version and so on.

Once you get it activated you won't forget and the next new computer you will probably get it activated after it runs for a few minutes to avoid this again. It's annoying, it's Windows! ;-]

How to enable the hidden Administrator account in Windows 7 and Windows Vista

Unlike Windows XP the administrator account is disabled by default in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Many people prefer to have the amin account open just in case they forget their main account password or to alocate admin rights over another user account like your childrens for example.

In the tip I am going to tell you how to enable the admistrator account so it is visible on the Welcome Screen.

These step only apply to Windows 7 and Windows Vista accounts that have admin rights, they won't work on an account which is limited or which is a guest account.

1. Click on the Start Menu.
2. Click on All Programs.
3. Click on Accessories.
4. Right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. An Adminstarator Command prompt window will open.
5. In the command window type "net user adminstrator /active:yes" or "net user adminstrator active:yes"(with out the quotation marks)
6. to disable the admin account type in the command window "net user adminstrator /active:no" or "net user adminstrator active:no" (without the quotation marks)
7. Close the command window.
8. Log out of your account.

When you have logged out of your account you will see the Administrator account on the Welcome Screen.
If you don't see the admin account straight away all you have to do is restart your computer.

That should be it.

Please feel free to leave a comment on this tip.

First of all you find out your serial under the laptop, if there is no key then you can't activate your windows other than the guy who sold the laptop to you, ask him for genuine serial key for your windows. If he give you genuine key then you will be able to download windows updates otherwise your system might be lock again.

Windows Activation Key

I am afraid you need to speak to your friend. You have brought a laptop on which the trial period for Windows operating system has expired.
It may be that the laptop has a legal key assigned to it, if so the product key will be clearly printed on a label atteched to the laptop of your friend may hvae a record of the key.
If not the only way to legally solve this problem is to purchase the operating system.

We cannot give out the key, as it will be illegal. What you can do is temporarily using you friend's key, or any other that work on the version you are installing. After installing change the activation key with your one, either with activation or with windows keychanger.
You may need to do activation by phone, and chose to speak to a representative in phone options.
There are also illegal keys on the internet (most popular is one starting with fckgw ...) but some of the pirate sites distributing them also spread viruses, and their use is illegal.
Moreover, with a non genuine Windows key your system will not enable some feature as automatic updates.
