I've called the cable company and it appears everything is fine and it is my TV. At first I had a problem getting it on channel 3 and finally when I did it still doesn't work. It comes on with Ant 3 stays on 5 seconds and turns dark. There is also no sound. Not sure what to do.

This tv problems are those long board call the LCD inverter boards,it is dead.TV should have 1 or 2 long boards that call the LCD inverter boards it it dead, these 1 or 2 long LCD inverter boards only job are to provide a backlight to the tv LCD screen panel to have screen light produce a picture.Tries websites like Shojimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy those refurbihes 1 or 2 long LCD inverter boards for the replacment.
With Direct TV, you should use the video input (composite video- yellow/picture, red/right stereo, white/left stereo) OR component video- (green/video, blue/video,red/video white/left channel stereo, red/right channel stereo)
the antenna connector should never be used anymore unless connecting an outdoor antenna or VCR.
if one of your input connectors is damaged, it is not likely that is will be repaired without replacing the entire circuit board (expensive!!!). just use a different "input"- there are usually at least 3 on most TV's
Well the LG tv is not getting the cable signal.Unplug the cable box about an hour.Replug the box let the software to upgrade the cable box.The LG tv should get the signal back as normal. Not,than the LG tv Tuner board have problems it dead.Tries Websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish Tuner board for the replacement.
I bought this TV and had the exact same problem, I tried everything i could think of and so did Geek Squad but nothing worked. We called Best Buy to see about a return policy and the manager told us that the brands Dynex and Insignia do not work with certain cable companies, one being Comcast. Call Best Buy and ask if your cable company will work with the brand. My suggestions are to either return the TV and search for a new one, I did this, OR you could take a DVD/VCR player and connect the cable from your wall to the DVD/VCR player. Then use the red, yellow, and white wires to connect the TV to the DVD/VCR player. Put your TV on the proper input and cable will work fine, because you will see the picture from the player not directly from your TV. I hope this helps, if you need any further information just ask.
After spending a day trying to fix the TV, I found out the problem was actually with my cable box. I have an HD DVR recorder. We unplugged the cable box and plugged the TV directly into the cable in the wall and it worked. So we took the cable box back to our cable company and got a new cable box. (Can't live without the DVR!!)
