You have a problem with your oven temp. sensor. Remove it and check it at room temp. It should meter out at 1 to 1.1K ohms. If it doesn't replace it.

icon1.gif imported post "The best that I can determine from the fault codes is that the *ribbon* on the range electronic control----is not tight enough. Turn off curcuit.

If you unplug the range and remove the rear panel behind the electronic control.

There should be a tape-like ribbon that goes to the circuit board.

This ribbon is problably not snug enough at the connection.

I've read about servicers tearing off the cover of a pack of matches and inserting it into the connector to improve the fit. This can only be done by pulling the ribbon out and looking at it to see which side is bare metal (basically flat wire) and which side is insulated or non-exposed wires. Obviously the matchbook cover must not be pressed into the side of the ribbon that connects with the pc board wiring.

John" I followed John's advice and it worked. I, a 33 yo female, removed the back panel of the stove, found the ribbon (along the back/side of the display looped and connected to the panel), detatched it, cleaned it with an eraser (suggestion from another blogger), and reattached the ribbon snugly (locked in by a plastic thing). I don't know if it was just loose or needed cleaning but it was easy to do. Sears would not even tell me what the code meant and they were going to charge me $65 for a technician to come out. We do have an electric stove instead of gas, so I am not sure if it will be any different. Good luck. Dana

I have an old maytag gas range model number CRG9700AAW, that beeps with an "F7" on the display, any idea what this alarm is?

Hello,

The F7 error code means that a button on the touch pad is bad,you can clear the error code by the pushing clear/cancel button if it doesn't reoccur all is well. If it returns (what i have heard from my customers is that it always reoccurs in the middle of the night when their fast asleep) the touch will need to be replaced

I hope this helps ,if it does please give me a 4 thumbs up rating

Maytag electric range, older model. What is a beeping, flashing code F2

F2- oven too hot. usually due to a bad oven temperature sensor. they sense the temperature of the oven by changing resistance, and can keep the element hot, or turn it off.

My ge xl44 gas range, installed in 2000, turns off and flashes an f2 code occasionally. Can you give me the reason?

F2 means: For an unknown reason, the oven temperature has exceeded a preset threshold.

G.E. recommends you try this:

Sometimes shutting off the circuit breaker that the range or oven is connected to for 30 seconds will clear the fault, error or function code, however there are some cases when further service may be required. If you would like to schedule a service appointment, please contact GE Consumer Service at 1-800-432-2737

Washer flashes f 1 and will not start

The range/stove fault code page....
My Range is flashing a "F" something.....what does this mean??

Some terms used on this page...ERC - Electronic Range Control. Watchdog - a combination of hardware and software which acts as an internal scheme, disconnecting the systems output from the process in the event of a malfunction. Oven temperature sensor - What a common sensor or temp sensor looks like.

Always remember Electricity is dangerous and should be treated with respect.

A tip for the famous F1 fault code entr_anm.gif The biggest Fault Codes list that I am aware of! What does an oven temp sensor look like? Some info and tips on oven temp sensors
Newer 4 digit fault codes - Maytag, JennAir, Magic Chef Newer Frigidaire fault codes new25.gif Some newer GE built in oven fault codes are here. Newest Hamilton built GE clock fault codes are here. I have some of my own hand written fault codes, here and some more here. The Maytag Gemini range fault codes are on this page. The Maytag Accellis range codes are on this page. traffic_record.php?lc=024041009290002517 A tip:The supplier recently reversed the display areas for the clocks. Therefore you may find an F1-E0 code or E0-F1 code depending on the model. They both mean the same thing, and depending on the model determines the code reference, and location of the F code. Different manufacturer of the clocks caused this.

How to test many brands of Ranges that are flashing a F1 fault code: You have either a bad ERC (clock) or a bad touch pad.
  1. Disconnect power to stove
  2. Gain access to the back of the clock (electronic range control or ERC).
  3. Unplug the touch pad ribbon connector from the ERC. This will be a flat wire approx. 1 1/2" to 2" wide.
  4. Make sure everything is clear and will not short out when power is turned back on.
  5. Turn power back on to stove.
  6. Watch for the F1 and listen for the beep.
  7. If you get the F1 and beep, replace the ERC.
  8. If after approx. 30 minutes you do NOT get the F1 and hear the beep, replace the touch pad.
NOTE: Some models incorporate the touch pad and the clock as one part. * We have seen a few of the newer Maytag ranges with a F1 fault code and the problem was the oven temp sensor, check carefully the wires to and from the oven temp sensor!!

My Maytag wall oven CWE9000ACB is giving me a fault code F2.

The F2 fault code is usually for a out of limit tempature reading due to a faulty temp probe or excessive temp during clean cycle with door unlocked. If you have disconnected the power for over 10 minutes and the error keeps coming back then you will need to test the tempature probe to see if it is defective. Test with a OHM meter and at room tempature most probes should read around 1100-1300 ohms. if the reading is way off or open then replace the tempature probe.
