    Hi sjana!

I need more info about your laptop. Give me the names of the items under "Network Adapters". There are wireless adapters that doesn't say "wireless" under Network Adapters - but it could already be your wireless adapter.

Are you using XP or Vista?

Also, check if your wireless switch is ON.

I hope to hear from you soon. I'll reply ASAP if you need further assistance.

    Hi!

Can you tell me the items listed under Network Adaptes? Also, please indicate if there is a red X or yellow ? on each item (if there is none, all devices are enabled and drivers properly installed.

Do you have XP or Windows Vista? Additional info would be helpful - are you connecting wirelessly to your own wireless router or to a hotspot?

Please try these:
Under device manager, click on wireless LAN then select uninstall or properties-driver tab-uninstall. Then restart your laptop. If this is not possible,
Using a different laptop, please go to pcsupport.toshiba.com or support.toshiba.com - downloads - portables - select model - show results - downloads - then please click on the latest wifi driver - download. Please select save and save that driver to a disc then run it in your laptop. Restart laptop then hope it works.
Thank you.

Cant connect to wifi

Hello Murray,

The first thing that I would advise you to do is,

Uninstall the WiFi Adapter totally from the System first,

(For WIndows XP)
Right-Click on my computer Icon, Properties-->Hardware-->Device Manager,

select the WiFi Adapter under network adapters, and right click on it, then select uninstall

Next, Click on Action on that Same page, and select "scan for hardware changes",

This will bring up a prompt to install the new hardware found (Which is your Wifi Adapter).

(For WIndows Vista/Windows7)
Right-Click on my computer Icon, go to

Properties-->>Device Manager, select the WiFi Adapter under network adapters, and right click on it, then select uninstall

Next, Click on Action on that Same page, and select "scan for hardware changes",

This will also bring up a prompt to install the new hardware found (Which is your Wifi Adapter).

After this, Press your Wifi button on the system and ensure that it is On, then Scan for wireless networks.

It should connect like that.

Try this out and kindly let me know how it goes,

Hope this helps.

How can I install the wireless network adaptor on my laptop?

Hello,

The installation of wireless network adapter on your

PC is very easy.

I will try to explain how to go about the two parts

involved, i.e the hardware installation part and the

software installation part.

1.) Hardware

To install the hardware part, get a screwdriver,

unscrew the back of your notebook where you see a

symbol drawn that looks like a small rectangular

card. After doing this, you should see two wires that

has a form of hollow pin at the tip.It is always of two

colours, which are black and grey.

Next, get a technician or got to a compute store and

tell them you need a WiFi Card.

Make sure you specify that it is 54G or 108G card

you want.

After getting this chip, insert it into the available slot

provided for WiFi card on your system.

Then Connect the Black Wire to the Mains terminal,

and the Grey wire to the Aux terminal.

Then power on your system.

2.) Software

After you on your system, you should see "New

Hardware found", if you have the driver for the WiFi

Card, then insert it into the CDROM and select "do

not connect to the internet.

Click on next and under the CDROM/Floppy" try to

navigate to where the driver is on the CDROM.

then click on next and follow on-screen instructions

3.)Incase you have installed the adapter before, do

this:

Uninstall the WiFi Adapter totally from the System

first,

(For WIndows XP)

Right-Click on my computer Icon, Properties-->Hardware-->Device Manager,

select the WiFi Adapter under network adapters, and right click on it, then select uninstall

Next, Click on Action on that Same page, and select "scan for hardware changes",

This will bring up a prompt to install the new hardware found (Which is your Wifi Adapter).

(For WIndows Vista)

Right-Click on my computer Icon, go to

Properties-->>Device Manager, select the WiFi Adapter under network adapters, and right click on it, then select uninstall

Next, Click on Action on that Same page, and select "scan for hardware changes",

This will also bring up a prompt to install the new hardware found (Which is your Wifi Adapter).

After this, Press your Wifi button on the system and ensure that it is On, then Scan for wireless networks.

It should connect like that.

Try this out and kindly let me know how it goes,

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using Fixya.

Wifi connectivity problem

It's possible that the driver for your wireless adapter is already installed. Check under Device Manager > Network Adapters if there is anything pertaining to your wireless adapter. Make sure that your wireless adapter (under Device manager > Network adapters) does not have any red X or yellow question mark.

Red X indicated that it's disabled , while yellow question mark will suggest that you need to update the driver. If your wireless adapter is working properly under Device Manager > Network adapters then you will need to configure it's utility for wireless connection.

If you are running windows XP, look for the wireless icon in the lower right side of your task bar and use it to connect to your preferred network.

Good luck and have a nice day!
