Question about Printers & Copiers

Konica 7040, use as network printer?

Hi, we had a Konica 7040 donated. the copier tech told me he couldn't get an IP address on something so old, and if he could the network card would cost almost a thousand dollars. Is this true, and is there another way to print from computers to the Konica?

thank you

thanks, Checkitright. I'll look to see what connector it has...

it doesn't have a network card, and apparently it would be very difficult and expensive to get one.

The wireless router option sounds interesting, maybe my IT guy understands how to do that.

Not sure if you are saying it has a NIC card or you would like to put one in.
If it does not have one, yes it's expensive and most likely they did not make one for that model.
If it has one
depends on the connections.
IP address is for a network, don't know the setting you are in,but, if there is another connection ( Parallel) this is the big connector that is used in the old machines and computers (before USB) and is connected directly to the PC. so it's considered Local printer and only that person can print, would be an alternative.

Unless you have a wireless router, and put the printer into a shared File

Sorry, the wireless is not going to work if you do not have a network card !!! so, unfortunately that model can not print from your PC regardless of what you try.

Konica DOES have a Nic card for that model however, read this (dated 1998)

Try a local Konica service facility, they will or can get the part hopefully the part should cost about 300-400 by now. If the copier is in good shape and your whole office will benefit then it outweighs the cost.

Just installed printer and drivers via a network connection for Vista 32bit. I did this per the instructions Provided by Konica at ftp://ftp.minolta-qms.com/pub/crc/out_going/manuals/misc/km_vista...

I presume that the IP Address in the instruction is just an example IP Address. I don't know if your printer is connected to a router or to a Hub or Switch, but your printer's IP Address should depend on the device that provides the IP Address and the example is router. The first 3 octet of the Printer should be the same as the router's. So the setup should be router->printer then router->computer.

Problem in configuring IP address in Konica Minolta bizhub 210 Copier, Printer, Fax

Is there network card is installed in it, if yes then you can configure it with your network go to machine Manu in machine control panel and the in network settings here you can give the IP address and subnet mask after then reboot the machine.
If network card is no installed behind the machine then you can use its built-in USB or and parallel printer without NIC card.
