I assume this is a wheelwriter. If so push the blue lever on the rt. side of the ribbon to the rear and lift the ribbon and lift off out of the machine, seperate the ribbon and L/O. Attach L/O to the new ribbon, insert the two "feet" on the ribbon casstte into the slots on the ribbon deck and snap it into place.

Shows no ribbon

When the unit shows No TFR Ribbon in the screen this usually means the spool has come to an end and its time to install a new ribbon set. If you know there is ribbon installed and you are still getting this message it means the sensor has been misaligned and is not reading correctly or the transfer film is jammed or broken. First check the ribbon is neatly wound up on the spool and is not torn then reinstall and check again. If it still shows no tfr you need to have the unit serviced. Never force the cartridges at any time while installing or fixing a jammed spool as this will sometimes move the settings on the sensors.

That strip is to protect in shipping from toner spill, you're supposed to pull it out and tear it off before installing.

Move the red lever to the front of the ribbon, remove it, drop the ribbon in place, be sure it goes thru the feed roller on the left, move the lever back, done.

New ribbon and can't get it to type

did you make sure that the end pieces are engaged into the brackets in the part facing you. Also if the correction tape is not loaded onto the ribbon prior to installing it, it will do that too.

Hope this helps, Denise

Jenn air oven installing new control pannel and has a 17 pin ribbon connection new part came with the black plastic pin mount on it do you pull the ribbon out and how do you get the new one in??

I've seen both the ribbon cable and pin connector version of this, I think they are different part numbers (for the control panel). Can you provide model/part number info?

By the way, we may be able to repair your old one.

Error code 754

It's very possible you are not installing the ribbon properly.
When loading a new ribbon on a Monarch printer, you must save the plastic ribbon core (it's butter yellow in color) from the previous roll of ribbon. The core is what the ribbon is wound up on.
Do not throw away this plastic core - you need it for the next roll of ribbon you load!
You have to move this now empty core from the back ribbon spindle and slide it on the front ribbon spindle. You then load the new ribbon on the back spindle and attach the ribbon end to the empty plastic ribbon core on the front spindle.
You CAN NOT just tape the ribbon to the front spindle. You must have an empty ribbon core to attach the new ribbon to. The printer will give a 754 error unless you have two plastic cores on the two spindles. It can also give a 754 error if the ribbon is not loaded properly, and also if you have a bad motherboard. There are no ribbon sensors, so that's never going to be a problem...
