Perhaps you have not unlocked the "Transit Lock" for the scanner head.

can you print and scan ok?

The transit lock stops the scanner head from being destroyed in transit, if you have been able to scan / copy it seems that you have unlocked the scan head.

it is possible that you are putting the original in upside down..........but that is unlikely

have you tried scanning to your computer, does that work properly?

SOURCE: copys come out blank

A couple things can cause this you may not have tried yet.

  1. First in your printer driver properties, select the highest dpi setting and the correct paper setting for your type of printer.
  2. Run a print head cleaning cycle. Run up to five cycles in sequence. Print a nozzle check pattern after every one or two cleaning cycles to see if you have made any progress. On most printers, after approximately every fifth cycle, the printer will perform a more powerful head cleaning routine.
  3. Clean the capping station The capping station is a rectangular flat sponge surrounded by a raised gasket. When the print head is in the “parked position,” at the right side of the printer carriage, the gasket of the cap presses against the print head, sealing it. One purpose of this is to keep the print head from drying out due to air exposure. Instructions: (1) push the “ink change” button to move print head off the cap. Unplug the printer (2) Look inside the printer case, below where the print head was originally sitting, to find the cap or caps. A cap is a rectangular piece, approximately 1” high by 2” wide(3) Look at the cap, using a flashlight if necessary. It should be horizontal, not tilted at an angle. If it tilted, there may be a problem with the fixture supporting it. (4) Clean the cap. Sometimes you may notice a buildup of residue or liquid in the cap or on the gasket; other times you will not. Use a drinking straw to deposit warm water, or use the tube from the inside of a bottle of Windex to deposit Windex, onto the sponge. Use your finger to dispense only two or three drops of liquid at a time. The liquid will remain in the cap for a few seconds, but will soon drain out. Repeat this several times. Try not to let the Windex or water spill around the cap, and into the printer. (5) Fold a paper towel into a 4”x4” (10cm X 10cm) pad. Press the towel gently on the sponge to dab away ink and water or Windex. As you push on the sponge, push down and slightly to the right, to protect the spring-loaded mechanism that supports it. (6) Dip a cotton swab (Q-Tip) in water, and use it to wipe gently around the edge of the capping station gasket, to remove dirt buildup there.
  4. Ink flow problems can occur if the air channels on the top of the cartridge become blocked. Check to make sure the cartridges that their is not bits of machined plastic on the top that was not properly removed.

SOURCE: When I put an original on the glass to copy, copies come out blank but cartridge has not run out

Sounds like the issue is with the scanner bulb. May not be moving across or warming up to full capacity and therefore it is not taking an accurate picture.

Make sure the scanner is plugged in directly to the wall and not into a surge protector or a power strip. Do you have the same issue when scanning?

If it happens when you scan and it is plugged into the wall and you are in warranty you will need to replace the unit. If OOW then you should call and see if you can repair or upgrade the unit at a discounted price. If you want to speak to someone in English tell them you want mac support - they are in Canada.

It could be that your cartridge needs cleaning. On your computer, go to Start menu > Programs / All Programs > Lexmark 6100 Series > Lexmark Solution Center. Go to Maintenance tab > select Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Your printer will then print a page forcing ink through the cartridge nozzles and clean them. Try to print your document again and determine if the problem is fixed.

Leaking black ink on printed pages

Hi, please attempt to run a numerous blank paper through the printer. This will dry or clean any ink found on the rollers.
Continue to run blank pages through the printer until no more ink is found on the paper, then attempt printing. If ink stains or streaks are still present, the printer may need service.

My Dell A940 is not printing with black ink.

how long have the cartridges sat? I've noticed after about a week, that dell ink clogs up. Also, Lexmark makes most Dell printers. In my time as a cartridge refiller, we blow through dells and lexmarks and when they **** out, usually it acts like it prints, but nothing comes out printed, only blank pages
