Wifi connectivity problem

I have Acer Aspire 3004LC series Laptop. In my system CD, I found the driver for wireless LAN. The instructions in the CD directs me to go to Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Driver->Other Devices->Right click and install the driver and then install the application. But I can't find "Other Devices" in the device manager. Please help me out to get Wifi Connectivty.

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!

It's possible that the driver for your wireless adapter is already installed. Check under Device Manager > Network Adapters if there is anything pertaining to your wireless adapter. Make sure that your wireless adapter (under Device manager > Network adapters) does not have any red X or yellow question mark.

Red X indicated that it's disabled , while yellow question mark will suggest that you need to update the driver. If your wireless adapter is working properly under Device Manager > Network adapters then you will need to configure it's utility for wireless connection.

If you are running windows XP, look for the wireless icon in the lower right side of your task bar and use it to connect to your preferred network.

Good luck and have a nice day!

How do i download the drivers fo wifi on my acer aspire mini laptop?

Acer Aspire One AOA150-1949?

What Windows operating system? Windows XP?

Acer Support > Aspire One AOA150 series of Netbook PC's >
Drivers & Support Documents page,

http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=61

Scroll down to the bottom - Wireless LAN
Underneath click right on -> Wireless LAN Driver

A small window will come up -
Opening WLAN_Atheros_7.6.0.224_XPx86_A.zip

Make SURE there is a Green dot in the small circle, to the left of Save File.
IF not; left-click in the empty circle to the left of Save File.
Go below in the small window, and click on OK.

A small download window will come up. Allow the file to download all the way, then DOUBLE-click right on the file name.
In the next window go to the far Left, and click on -
Extract all files.

At the bottom of the next 3 small windows, click on -
Next, Next, and Finish.
(Do NOT change anything in the second small window.
Just click on Next, Next, and Finish)

If you are not asked to restart your computer, do so.

When Windows has fully loaded again, you should get a pop-up out if the system tray, "Found new hardware device"

Plus perhaps another one, "Found Atheros wireless device".
(Or to that effect)

Is this laptop equipped with wirless connection fromthe manufactorere or must it be purchased

Most late model Acer Aspire laptops have G or N WiFi included in the computer. My Acer 3680 series has it built in (G) and I added a D-Link N card to it to speed things up.

There should be a switch on the front or a Fn Button that turns on the WiFi.

Ok.. This is the downloads site for ACER support site.
ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_4520/vista/Drivers
However there are two wireless LAN drivers in that directory. You should find out which one is yours. To do this click start->right-cllcik on computer. When the system window opens click on device manager located under tasks on the left hand side. When the device manager opens double-click on network adapters and one of the two devices(Atheros wireless LAN or Broadcom wireless LAN) will be listed. Download the respective driver and your wireless would be up and runnin'
