Microsoft Mouse Model 1058 - can't undo magnifier!

I know there is something I pushed to make this magnifying box enlarge part of the screen, but I don not like this. How do I make it normal again? Thanks! Cindy

Hi, I have the same problem. I resolved it. The steps are - 1.Go to control panel 2. click on mouse and it will take you to mouse properties . It will display you the Microsoft mouse 3.Go to "buttons" Tab 4.Change the option in the "small thumb button" box to "click" from "Magnifier"..the default is "Magnifier"..that is why if u accidentally push this button..it opens up an annoying magnifier.. 5. then click apply..It works

Go to Mouse Properties(you should have an icon on your desktop for Microsoft Mouse). Double-click
on icon, Mouse properties will come up, go to buttons tap, go to right button, drop down menu will
have a disable option. Click on that, click on Apply, and then OK. Should be fixed. I got rid of the
magnifying option, as it would come on by itself when I moved the pointer way to the right side of the
screen. It's a hassle.

Hope this will solve your problem.

OK, your going to laugh, I hope this finds you, lol, I have the same mouse and did the same thing for the longest time. The button that you use to activate it is the same button you use to "deactivate" it. If you clicked the front of the button then click it at the bottom of the button, I hope this makes sense, good luck!

Eliminate magnifying glass

Download the latest Microsoft Mouse Software from http://www.microsoft.com/hardware and install it. It will give you the option to set the software to match whichever wireless mouse you are using, and from there, you can get your default button assignments back.
Give that a shot!

I accidentally turned on the wireless 5000 mouse magnifier and can't get rid of the magnifier. How do I turn it off?

Normal 0 The button on the left side of the mouse when pressed turns the Magnifier on/off. Just press it again and it should turn off.
I kept turning it on accidentally so I went in the control panel and switched the Magnifier to the right side. I added that below so you can set your mouse buttons.

Go to Control Panel and click on the Mouse icon. Then the mouse properties will appear showing the mouse buttons. In the Left column is the button settings. The bottom one is the Right Button, which is set for Magnify. Whenever you hit the Right Side button the magnifier will turn on. To turn it off, hit the Right Side Button and off it goes. You can change any of the button settings by clicking on the drop down.
Hope this helps. Bud

Can't get magnifier off screen

First of all make sure to update to the latest driver. The problem is, the side buttons are very easy to push without meaning to do so. Right click the mouse icon in your system tray and select "Mouse Properties" select the BUTTONS tab, then disable both the left and right side mouse buttons. Click on APPLY and then OK

I had to move the magnify function to the left button because it was to sensitive on the right.
