Reformat hard drive in 11.10

You can not format your hard drive using it's on software on the same hard drive. Because your notebook does not come with a DVD rom or CD rom what you need to do is to get yourself an external DVD rom which you connect to the computer with a USB cable. Then you use the disc of the operating system that you want to use on that Notebook. When you reboot the operating system disc will be recognized and on the screen you will be asked to press any key if you want to run the disc. So you will press and follow the instructions the rest will take you to formatting the disc and loading the operating system.

Aspire series 3000 will not stay powered on...it powers off before operating system loads and before cd-rom disc can load. I have confirmed that the battery receives/holds a charge and even swapped out...

Ram problem? Try replacing the ram modules, to see if they are causing the problem
Then see if the power switch is sticking, or the small cut off switch on the top of the laptop near the hinge is jammed.

Other than that, I think you may have either an overheating problem (strip laptop to check), or a faulty powerboard component, as you have tried the obvious solutions already

Your windows may have corrupted files, try a complete re-install of the operational system using the original recovery disc. If that fails the hard drive is most likely defective.

I have a acer aspire 3000 and it sometimes say it is missing operational system when i shut it down y is that

Your hard drive is failing, maybe from overheating, wear and tear, could be a number of things....most likely though the drive is failing and ther motherboard is having a hard time recognizing and initiating the drive. I would get a new drive soon and rty to "clone" the old drive to the the new drive. Seagate harddrives have a utility disc that comes with the drive that has all the needed drivers, and software to easily and securely clone a new drive. Just follow the step by step procedures.

Could be a bad memory chip or a hard drive crash. Can you hear the hard drive engage? If so, is there any clicking or dull thunking sounds? Both of these are indicators of a hard drive failure.

Acer 3000 not loading

Hey,

firts put the original harddrives back in place :)
then you need to enter the 3000's bios If I remember right
thats done by pressing f2 or del in a acer. it should tell you what button is correct on the bootup screen.

Then you need to change the boot order to haveing the dvd/cd drive before the harddrive, since right now its booting strate from the harddrive.

Then you should be able to restore the operateing system with the disks that came with the laptop and or from a normal xp or vista cd/dvd.

good luck!

Acer Aspire 3000, Hard Drive Problem

the coffee is somehow conducting a short circuit across solder pads, where it should not. The solution lies in removing the coffee. Disassemble completely to the point where you can take the main board and hard drive connector (if exist) out and actually wash in a tub of soapy water and rinse in a tub of alcohol and towel dry and then lightly blow dry. During disassembly, video your work to play back at a later time.

Aspire 3000 will not boot

Hello Halfwit, Your laptop is trying to boot from lan because it can't for some reasons to boot normally from the hard-disk. Try to listen if when you power on the laptop the hard-disk spins or makes any noises. If not there could be a problem with the connector that links it to the mainboard. If you hear a noise or the hard-disk spins then you may have a corrupted OS (windows) or some bad sectors problems. The best way to find out would be to try to boot the laptop by using a windows instalation cd. Boot from the cd-rom and check to see if the windows installer find your hard-disk and can copy files to it. You will need to change the boot order from bios to enable the cd-rom to boot first or enter some boot menu (if provided) and select " boot from cd-rom " or such thing. If you need more help with these please post back or contact me or other experts on the live chat function on this site. Good luck.
