is this something new - all my other dishwashers drained through the floor with no problem

  • jpodlesny Oct 02, 2008

it is in a loop (swan neck) so it should be ok to drain through the floor or not?

    Thanks

my old DW drain hose ran up the wall then dropped through the floor and connected to a trap running to the main sewer drain. It worked like a champ for many years. I put in a new washer and all seemed fine most of the time. Every now and then water water will drain completely out during the wash phase. The repair guy came out for a warranty call and said that I need an air gap. My DW is seperated from the sink by my stove, that is why it runs through the floor. I can not install the air gap above the sink, so where do I put it? Do I put it right before it runs into the trap (therefore lower than the DW)?

You can not take the drain hose straight down thro the floor or the water will drain out as fast as it comes in. you can drain into a spigot on the sink trap or into a vertical pipe connected into your drains via a water barrier

Electrolux professional series not pumping water

Two things to consider....clean water or dirty water?

Clean water usually indicates the fill valve is not shutting off all the way and the fill valve is "weeping" water in all the time = new fill valve time!!

Dirty water usually is not a dishwasher problem but more of a plumbing issue. Often the sink drain that carries the sinks water outside is not fast enough and some of this sink water is backing up into the drain hose and filling up the dishwasher through the drain hose. The drain from the sink to outside needs attention as this type of a problem indicates a slow house drain for that sink.

The dishwasher drain line should be clamped to the top underneath part of the counter before entering the sink drain plumbing, this may help the water from coming back inside the dishwasher.

Water is sitting at bottum of dishwasher not draining very well and not washing well

you most likely have a partial blockage in the drain pump or the drain line that goes from the floor of the dishwasher to the sink drain. Disconnect those parts and look. remove whatever the block age is.

I INSTALLED A VENT IN MY SINKTOP FOR THE WASHER AND WHEN IT DISCHARGES THE WATER IT COMES OUT THE VENT AND RUNS INTO THE SINK.

Installed vent? Dishwashers drain directly into the sink drain line. Drain can be installed in cross over between sink drains or on line from sink drain.

Frigidaire Dish washer MODEL

hi there aaliyazaidi2.is the water clear or dirty that you find in the dishwasher?there are two ways this could be happening.1,if the water is dirty[although it dose not have to be ,but its a sure clue]its you drain line of your dishwasher.what happens is because the drain line is lower than the sink drain, when you use your sink water runs by way of gravity in to the drain hose and then fills up your dishwasher, till you drain it or wash a load...to solve this problem you need too make a loop as we repairman call it.get some zip ties ,or what ever[string] and tie your drain hose off at the top off the sink under the sink cabinet[imagin your drain hose as a roller coaster, the hose coming from the dishwasher is the start of the coaster before it goes to the top of the big hill.what you want to do is ,at the top of the roller coaster hill, tie your drain hose to what ever you can under you sink causing a hill so when your hose goes back down ,it ends up into your disposer or what ever plumbing it ends up into.[hay i hope i helped you understand what i mean their];#2,the other way is your dishwasher water valve may not be sealing well. the water would only be clear if this was the issue and could be warm water because its only hot water to the dishwasher.what happens here is because the water valve is not sealing water slowly adds to your dishwasher may be drops at a time, and over the hours gone by it accumulates and the you notice water in the tub.to solve this you replace the water valve.its[most of the time blue, but could be tan or white]under the dishwasher.the water line from your house goes to it.i hope this helps you you can email if you need more help. God bless ,tom

Dishwasher fills with water when running faucet

The drain hose from the dishwasher should exit the dishwasher, then head up to the nderside of the counter top, before heading back down to connect to the disposal drain connection.

If the drain hose doesn't do this, the dishwasher is improperly installed, and clean dishes risk being contaminated, which can cause people to become ill.

You have a restricted drain in your sink, not the dishwasher. Water is unable to go down drain fast enough and is backing up.

Frigidaire dishwasher rinse cycle problem

problem just might be that not draining. when on drain, hold hose into a bucket about 3 feet off floor and check drain rate is good. if plumbed in under the sink, also check no blockage at the sink spigot
