Could be as simple as a loose wire on the main board or surrounding electrical. Could be the start capacitor.

Is there a reset button on the motor for this model? It overheated and now only makes a hum, no motor movement at all! I think the motor has worn out...?

As it is humming it is consuming current. If nothing else is happening it could be the motor is seized or something is in the gearbox or mechanism jamming it.
The motor is generally a brush-type series-wound type which do not tolerate overheating very well and when jammed self-destruct very quickly. I guess in a dedicated business machine it could conceivably be another type of motor.

I suggest you disconnect it from the power and partially dismantle it again and attempt to turn the motor and mechanism by hand. If it turns easily it is likely an electrical fault and if it doesn't the trouble is mechanical.

Unless it was a very expensive shredder spare parts are likely to be a big problem.

The motor will hum when you put the paper to the blades but it will not shredd because the blades do not turn.

Blades need to be cleaned and oiled Unplug and check to make sure there are no staples or something caught in the gear edge in the corners You should be able to turn it by hand If not the gears inside probably slipped out of place or got busted from somebody trying to shred too much at once

Gears are not turning but fan is running No apparent jam but have difficulty manually turning gears

Shredders normally are hard to turn by hand....check to see if any gears are broken or stripped....take one gear out so the motor dosn't have to turn the cutting shafts...once you determine problem give Royal a call at 1-800-524-0799 for parts and prices.

Motor and cutter do not rotate - strip cut model

Soak the clog with dishwashing detergent and a little bit of water overnight. This should dissolve the paper.

It will not start. Have triedeverything.

If your saying that it will not start as in the motor will not turn then your LEDs on the entry may be either dirty or defective. If you can hear a humming noise then the motor is locked up and needs to be repaired. Usually just a few screws from under the lid will take it far enough apart to look inside. A common problem is the drive gear from the motor will break.

Shredder motor will run in reverse, but not

Sounds like a bad or dirty switch you can try to clean it with alcohol ( the switch that gets activated by the paper)

Blades rotate twice but stop-motor continues to run, both forward & reverse mode its the same. Have tried to oil, unblock, run forward & back but to no avail. Can anyone help

Is the motor just humming after the 2 rotations? If you are over oiling the unit, tha shreds will soak up the oil and start sticking to the blades and begin growing a paper tumot in side the cutter shroud, whish in turn will start to slow down and jam the cutter asm and motor. Best to take apart and thoroughly clean.

Over heating light on, will not work. tried to unplug for an Hour still not working

Can you hear any humming? Blades or motor may be jammed. Can you get the top off? Most likely there is paper jammed in the cutter asm. You may have to manually turn the motor in reverse to pull the paper out.

The blades are stuck in reverse

I have the exact same problem. In fact, my SPL-1506X is sitting disassembled on the kitchen table as I write this. There is a PC Board inside the unit with a relay that directs the motor to run in forward or reverse. My relay is fused in the reverse position. I know this because the relay's casing is clear polycarbonate. If that relay can be replaced, the SPL-1506X will be fixed, I'm convinced. Unfortunately, the relay is made in China. So much for quality! I located the part no. on the web: Sanyou SME-2110DP a DPDT relay. If you can find it(which I can't), you're in luck. Myself, I'm going to trash the unit.

My shedder wont shedded

It could be you have a broken or stripped gear. If you can disassemble the rig and look at the drive mechanim, this should tell you what is happening. Availability of parts would be questionable. check the motor- is it turning, or are the bearings dried out and sticking? Check the mechanim for freedom of movement.
