Thanks tresilla - Problem is not mine but my daughters. See is using liquid and will follow your advice and try power. The problem does seem to be worse when washing is left in the machine after the cycle has finished which seems to point to your second suggestion that it is to with the drain layout. Unfortunately I am not able to examine this at the moment but will do so as possible. Thanks again.

Two things
are you using liquid detergent? if so, change to powder
is there a water barrier in the drain? if not, you are getting the smell from your drains

Smelly water & not going into spin

Try cleaning out the pump access port. It is at the front of the machine.

All sorts of stuff gets into these pumps on front loaders. A partial clog will go what you describe.

If you use a mesh laundry bag it will keep this from happening

Have you checked the outlet pipe that the machines pipe discharges into ? Sometimes these get filled up with sludge etc and may siphon back in smelly water at the end of a cycle. You could also see where the pipe drains into the sewer system , see if there is a local blockage.

Smelly cloths and on the fast wash did not rinse well

check the drain pump motor. if partially blocked it will restrict the outlet. Open the thumbwheel and remove the lint. Chech the 2 pipes for any blockages

The washer won't spin dry. It fills and empties but the clothes are soaking wet.

If washer is spinning but clothes are wet suspect a partial blockage in the outlet pipe. This will cause the water to drain to slow and leave some in the outer drum while spin occurs but this ends up back in the clothes.

  2. double black wire plug onto 1x9 2
  3. blue black wire plug onto 1x11 2
  4. then 6 wire plug onto 1x5 6
This hopefully will solve your problem.

Clothes smell after wash

this could be one of three things:

are you using different washing powder i.e. non bio. sometimes these extra soft washing powders can make your clothes smelly if left for more than a couple of hours.

are you connected to water mains or a well. well water often contain manganese and iron which can discolour and leave a smell too.

last it could be the wash programme cutting short.

I had similar problem, the front door seal can trap small items, socks, handtowels. I didnt figure this out for some months, each load of clothes had a foul, mildew smell, Check door seal for trapped clothes, run intermittent cycles with bleach only, no clothes, be sure to leave door open when not in use to air out , this will reduce smell.
