Easiest way is to remove the motor - just held in by simple bolts. disconnect the electrical plug and socket wiring to the motor of course.

The brushes (connected to the motor obviously) are located underneath the drum. The easiest way to get at them is to secure the drum with the fixing bolts, tip the machine sideways and remove the brushes through the inspection hole underneath. The brushes are held in with 2 small phillips head screws each and have an electrical connector that requires you to press a locking tang as you pull it off. There are 3 different types of brush for the WMA48 washing machine, so you will have to remove them and take them with you to ensure you buy the correct replacements.
It is easier to remove / refit the brushes with the motor on the table in front of you, but is the best way to do it without having to remove the motor.

Washing machine motors are usually induction motors and do not have brushes? Anyway, the back comes off and that normally gives access to the screws that hold the top on, but the motor is normally located at the bottom of the machine.

Zanussi f1045w brushes access problem

Hello,
Yes you can lay the machine on its back and depending on the type of motor you will need either a posidrive screwdriver or a small 5.5 socket. You will need a torch to locate the brushes which are at the rear of the motor be careful as not to lose the screws in the motor when removing or replacing sometimes a bit of bluetac on the tool you are using can help to hold the screws.Be careful with the new carbons on the brushes as they can break easily, take note as you remove the old ones and locate the new ones onto the pegs and replace the cables.I am not sure of the plate you are talking about. If you have problems then it may be easier for you to remove the motor but you will have to split the body of the machine

How to change a washing machine belt

Unplug machine. Remove back panel. loosen three nuts holding motor clutch assembley from bottom side of motor mounting plate with deep well socket, allowing motor mounting plate to slide. Remove clamp holding flexible drive coupler just above belt. Remove belt. Reverse to install, but remember to give a little tension to the belt by holding motor toward the back left corner while tightening up nuts. Tighten the nut closest to the center of the machine first.

Washer won't spin.

From Howtomendit: key point I missed was that you need to pull the motor apart after you have taken it out of the machine before you can get access to the screws holding the brushes in. (ie: unscrew the four bolts). Not as difficult or scary as it looked!

please read thro first.
first unplug it, pull it out so you have some work space, take off back plate, remove belt undo (should be white rectangle plastic block with wire attached), remove green+yellow wire undo bolts which hold motor to drum, gently ease out motor (please be aware of sharp edges), run screwdriver down 1 side of motor so you put it back together same way you took it apart, unscrew 4 bolts that hold motor together take top bit of dont loose spacer ring, place to 1 side, remove middle comutator the end the brushes are touching will need a proper clean wd40 maybe wipe clean with cloth so its not dull let dry, undo carbon brushes, take plate off also clean then clean what they were attached to when dry replace in reverse order gently (with new brushes) then replace back on machine plug back in and test by running spin program found at bottom of dail if i have my mod/num right let it get to full spin watch motor if it sparks an looks like blackpool illuminations motors no good will need new 1 sorry.

Its a pain on this model but heres how. First remove plate at back of machine. Remove belt and two bolts holding motor (13mm).Unplug motor and remove. brushes are at back end of motor in plastic housings. after refitting motor replacing belt is where the fun begins.
