Hi the problem I am having with this monitor is on start up the picture on the screen are not central and I have to press the auto button to sort it out the picture is always about 1" to the left of the screen on start up.its like it should have a flat battery.

The power supply (the part of your monitor that converts the AC line voltage - taken from your wall plug - into the various voltages required by your monitor) inside you monitor has failed. If you have the expertise and test equipment you can diagnose the problem and determine which component within the supply that has failed.
some how your screen resolution has changed above or below what your monitor can display. you need to boot your computer using another monitor that can work with the resolution your computer has switched to(i used a spare crt monitor when it happened to me) change your resolution in display properties to a normal level like 1027x768, and while the computer is on swap the monitor cables to verify the lcd is working.
It is perfectly safe to unplug the video cable and plug it back in while the computer is turnned on.
