Many printers now require an IEEE 1284 and Bi-Directional. USB cables shouldn't be longer than 15 feet.

Depending on what port do you have on the back (or side) of the printer (USB, parallel, serial). Use the correct cable (USB, parallel, or serial cable) to connect the printer to the correct port on the computer (USB, parallel, or serial). You need to install the software driver on the computer before it will work. Google the name and model of the printer to download the driver to your computer.

I would like to print off of my lap top HP paodion dv7-1451nr Where is the port for the USB cable ? Is there a program/Cd I need for this?

Printers do not have a standard USB port. Instead, they use a port that is a bit more square. The cable you'll need is USB one one side and Printer on the other wide. These are extremely easy to find at an electronics retailer and are commonly known as a printer cable.

Whether or not you'll need a program/CD depends on your computer. After you have the correct cable, you can try connecting the printer to your laptop and seeing if the driver already exists/works correctly. If no luck, you can use the Internet to go to Canon's website and download the correct driver for your printer. That should get things going with no Program/CD needed.

You need a Printer usb cable. It is now common that company don't offer the cable with new printer. You can use an old one or buy a new.

system board. If all cables are installed correctly, go to step 2.
2 Fuser top cover assembly
(thermistor/thermistor cable
assembly)
Turn the printer off and disconnect the thermistor cable from J5 on
the fuser board. Measure the resistance between the two pins on the

We have a 9855 Monarch barcode Printer. We are

If the printer display just shows Ready, but doesn't print, there could be a few things wrong.

1 - no data is going to the printer
2 - data is going to the printer, but it is not the printer's native language
3 - cable connectivity issues
4 - wrong cable is being used
5 - if wireless, data is not going to the correct IP

If using a 3rd party application, make sure that you've chosen the correct Monarch printer, as well as printing to the correct port. Sometime people print to LPT instead of Serial, as an example.

If using 3rd party drivers, make sure of the same thing.

To see if the printer actually works, press both of the arrows on the display, at the same time, after the printer is at the ready screen. As long as have the printer configured correctly (ribbon, supply type, etc.), the printer should print out a couple of labels.
