Question about Casio Exilim EX-S600 Digital Camera

Date & Time loss with Exilim EX-S600

Each time I use the camera, screens appear asking me to select the language, country, city, date, year, etc. Initially I went through this time-consuming routine, but the information was not stored. So every time I want to take a picture I have to by-pass this procedure by clicking the 'set' button on all the screens to save valuable time - this means that my computer can't store the images by date. I suspect that some internal memory device is faulty.

I brought the camera back to the store (Dixon's at a UK Airport), but they had no answer to give me. Can anyone help?

Thank you for this information. However, does this mean, even though I haven't exhausted the battery and always carry a fully-charged spare, that I have to plug the camera into the mains every day? I got the spare battery to avoid having to carry a charger for short trips. I don't remember having to do that when I first started to use the camera.

Come to think of it, the camera loses the information EVERY time it is switched off, even though it has been recharged that day.

    Thanks, TechQueenTwo!

It's not so much my need of a date and time stamp (although that used to make it easier to locate pictures on the computer), but just the fact that every time I switch off, even for a minute, the camera reverts to the day it was born (1.1.2005) and it's tiresome and time-consuming to have to click through all the date/time/language/location etc.prompts every time you switch on in order to take a picture - particularly if you want to catch a bird or butterfly that will have flown away by the time the camera is ready to shoot..

I'm getting the impression that this fault can't be fixed??

(Sorry, I forgot to say that I own a PC operating with Microsoft XP - but the fault is in the camera).

    All the best,

Same problem. Very annoying. It first started doing it just after I bought my camera, so I sent it to be repaired (it was under warranty) - but after a couple months, it's doing it again. So there has to be some fix.

Good Morning :

Hope that you are wellJ

This is the response from Casio:

"The date and time will reset and the setting will need to be readjusted. The camera does not have a separate battery for the clock. The date and time will reset whenever the camera is not supplied power by the battery and USB cradle for about 24 hours."

Sounds a bit messy to me.

If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.

And, remember; always include the type of Operating System and the type of computer you own, when you submit your questions. It simply makes for much faster solutions.

Have a wonderful morning.

Casio may not be such a great choice if you need a date and time stamp.

From my review, it does appear to be a fault with this product and something that we will all need to be aware of when making a future purchase.

    Best wishes.

How do I change the date on my exilim EX-S6

The option to change the date and time only comes up when you first start up your camera. To make this option show up again you have to remove the battery from the phone for a few minutes, then put it back in and turn your camera on and the options to change the language and date should be up on the screen.

Configuring display language, Date and Time Settings.

Perform the reset operation to initialize the camera’s setup (page 136). After that, configure each setting. If the language selection screen does not re-appear when you turn the camera on, it means that the camera’s built-in memory management area has been restored. If the same message appears after you turn power back on, contact your retailer or a CASIO service center.

Casio exilim ex s600 how do I set the time stamp so it shows when photo is printed

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

Have to reset date and time every time I turn it on!

If you have to do that each time you shut it off and turn it back on try this. Take your memory card out and format your internal memory. Reset the camera and then re-enter the information. Shut the camera off and turn it back on and hopefully it will still be in there. If not then you have an internal memory error and that needs to be fixed by Casio.

Camera resets when powered off

On my mother-in-law's Exilim camera, we resolved the issue by formatting the camera's internal memory storage (take out your memory card and navigate to the format option on the menu). You'll need to then set the date and time again but it then seems to store it. Hoping that helps someone.

Casio Exilim EX-S600 time and date entry at every startup

Even casio seem confused by this question! It seems that the camera will loose it's settings if the battery is dead or the camera is not connected via USB. Even if the battery is charged it could loose the settings within 24hrs. You can get the manual below: http://world.casio.com/qv/download/en/manual/
