If the leading digit that is being missed is a zero then the likelyhood is that the barcode is a UPC-A barcode (12 digit) but displayed as 13 by using a leading 0. You can convert the UPC-A barcode to a EAN13 on the MS9520 by using the setting that comes either in the 9520 manual or the start-up guide provided in the box. See Conversion of UPC-A to EAN13

Dear bluegreenash, the EAN 13 has 12 real characters..the first one(13 character) shows the country code and it's called "check digit".The default settings in the bar code scanner do not show the 13 character if the value is zero!!(zero is the code for US and Canada). So,by going to the configuration manual I scanned the setting that enables and shows the check digit character and the problem solved!!thanks for the help!!

You are probably reading to a inteligent software package like Excell, which sees the inputted data as a number (so ignores leading zeros) you need to specify to the sytem that the incoming numbers are TEXT not numbers.

hmmm, if that is the case then the Scanner is OUTPUTTING the data as a number instead of as TEXT, so the problem lies with the configuration of the scanner itself....

look in the code book for any settings regarding how the data is interpreted and output by the scanner, it looks like the scanner is recognising as a number and truncating leading 0s there should be a setting that stops this.

it should certainly be in the configuration of the scanner

I would like to transmit EAN-13 bar code without check digit, but closed by ENTER.

If you would like the LS2208 to transmit only the first twelve digits of an EAN-13 barcode followed by an enter you will have to write an Advanced Data Formatting rule using barcodes from the LS2208 Product Reference Guide found here:

The barcodes you will print and scan in the order they are listed are:
Begin New Rule
EAN-13 (from the Critera pages of the ADF section)
Send Next 12 Characters
Send Enter key
Save Rule

If all other barcodes require an enter key make sure you scan Scan Options, Data Suffix, Enter (from the same manual or from the Quick Start Guide) before scanning the ADF rule above.

We need to convert UPC-A barcode number to EAN-13

Most scanners will convert UPCA to EAN13 as you scan if you have that setting checked. A 0 will be added in front of the UPCA to make it an EAN13. Nothing else changes. You can read about this stuff on Wikipedia.

GP5385 incompatible with EAN 13

Dear Akiong, Please try to reset your scanner configuration, using some utilities from it's manual book (usually available at it's case/box), restore it by scanning it to factory configuration,or scan a label that would enable all symbologies.
