Wont download anymore?

I have a fuji S5200 and it all of a sudden stopped downloading to my computer, always use same computer? My software still works, I have two cords and tryed them both and tryed different media cards, I even stick media card in my computer and that wont work either, is it my camera or my laptop? What is formatting, does that have something to do with it, cause last time I used it and tryed to downlaod, it made me format my disk and its never asked me to do that before? But other disks arent formatted and they dont ask to be? Thats mainly if I slip disk into my laptops media card reader though. I am stumped, I love this camera and hate to have to buy new, when its probly a simple fix, I just dont know what it is? I have used different batteries too with no luck

  • mgrjenny Sep 30, 2008

  • mgrjenny Sep 30, 2008

I am still waiting for some good advice on my issue for my fuji S5200, it wont download and I have tryed new cords, new media cards, new batterys and my software seems to be working fine, is there a setting I couldve accidently have changed on the camera that would cause the camera to not dstart to download when I connect the cord to the camera and then to my laptop? Cause I am puzzled what I couldve done for this to happen?

  • mgrjenny Sep 30, 2008

It couldnt be a setting on the camera that I couldve turned off or on? By accident?

  • mgrjenny Sep 30, 2008

How do u clean the usb port, I have 3 ports and I tryed them all with cords, I used two different cords with no change...

  • mgrjenny Oct 06, 2008

I cleaned the ports and reinstalled software with no change? Again could it be a setting on the camera that I changed and dont realize it?

" it gets that pop up that new device was hooked up " means that the driver for the camera is not installed or got uninstalled. a driver (sometimes provided by the manufacturer) is needed for some devices connected to a computer for it to function properly as the operating system (like windows) does not know how it works.

use the camera's driver disk to re-install the camera's driver.

This can be a problem with the USB port on yoru computer since you already tried two different cable and also tried connecting the memory card of the camera to a card reader and still have the same problem, firt thing to try is to connect the camera to a different USB port on your computer and if still the same problem better connect this camera to another computer so we can check if it will work because if it work so the problem is really with the USB port on your computer...

Hope that helps.........

The problem is most likely a corrupt card that needs to be re-formated
in the camera. But, I would try an external XD card reader. If you can
read it on the reader, you may have a camera issue. If you still can't
read it on the reader, then try re-formatting the card. Or the card may
    need to be replaced.

Problems with my fuji S3400 camera

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa:

Where in your site is the software for S5200 finepix?

You don't need any software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire).

Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Patch, fuji finepix for use with vista. Is there one available to enable me to download from my Fuji S5600

You should not any 'patch'
The Fuji Software may not work with vista if that is what you are referring to.Here are two suggestions,
If it is the software you want then do this
Go to Start/programs/accessories/system tools/compatibility Wizard and set it to Windows XP.
or
Remove the software- the computer does not need it - it will see the camera as mother drive ask put up the Camera/Scanner Wizard
and ask what you want to do.
If it is image edit software you want then Google's Picasa is a good start, for FREE but there are many other more competent FREE one to be had too.

Downloading problems

Fuji S5200/5600 are indeed pretty slow to download pictures when directly linked to a computer throught the USB port.
The only solution to speed up downloading is to remove from the camera the XD card and put it in a card reader provided with USB 2 interface.
Picasa, too, is not the fastest program to copy pictures on your PC. In my experience, XN View
(free) is faster than Picasa in copyng pics.
