Malfunction of input circuit: voltage delivered is too low. The batteries may
be faulty or depleted. Wait for a few hours, leave the UPS switched on

If absence of input power (utility failure, maintenance work) is expected to last longer than a few hours, switch
off the UPS to save battery power. If the UPS input power is absent for several days and the UPS remains on
under no-load conditions, the batteries can be discharged very deeply, resulting in a short battery life time

I have an Eaton 9355 20kva system. Theres an alarm #188 Bypass Failure and notice#105 Bypass Not available. The batteries are also not charging or the battery current is reading 0 amps. When the power goes...

Bypass failure is the same as your input unless you have a dual input. You lost power and the UPS did not hold the load because the batteries are bad. Replace the batteries and you will be ok.

My inverter (500 va) (battery based electric generator for power backup) keeps on charging batteries even when the charging light goes off making the inverter, wires and battery very hot.

This a possible failure of the voltage detection circuit in the inverter main board and requires the fault be identified by checking the voltage/current feed/limiter to the battery.
Once when the battery voltage has reached the threshold set up the charging should stop and then the circuit will analyse the voltage on the board to trigger the charging to be put ON.
This can be a failure of the detection circuit and if not checked can damage the battery.

My ups is switching off itself immediately the mains goes off.the battery is okay with 13v.

Batteries in the UPS typically last 3 to 5 years and it depends upon several factors. including the number of times the unit must go on battery power and enviromental conditions. There are usually several batteries in the UPS and while the battery voltage may show 13 volts, this may only a float voltage and a true indication of the battery voltage needs the batteries to be tested under a load. there maybe one battery that is faulty and causing the whole battery system to fail.
These lower powered and cheaper KVA type UPS are switch over types (when the mains fail, the UPS switches over to the inverter in milli-seconds to supply mains power). It is a possibility the inverter circuit is faulty and when the mains power fails the inverter does not switch over.

The true UPS type are usually the higher KVA units (over 1500 KVA units) that converts mains power continuously via the inverter circuit. The mains power charges the batteries and the inverter drawing power from continuously from the batteries (therefore there is no switch over time lag from the mains to the battery.

APC UPS 1500 w/full load forces immediate reboot at pwr failure

Hello,

With a 980watt load the run time is only 7 minutes on a brand new battery. If you have the system on full load your run time will be much less and it has likely damaged the battery. here is the APC web site page for your model. If you are running that much equipment I think you need either a bigger UPS or another 1500 and spread the load out.

UPS Does not Store Power

Ok, it sounds like the battery could be dead, easiest is to open it up and check using a multimeter. run it parellel with the battery, reading should be 12VDC, connect the power, if it goes to 13+ VDC then we know the charging circuit is ok. also disconnect the battery and check the voltage on it.
