Question about Miele CVA4070 Coffee Maker

1 Answer

Water in the waste unit, coffee comes not strong enough, as use to, although the settings are for strongest possible and the coffee grinder is set to medium. My unit is 4075 but I think it is just the plumbed version of the 4070.

It seemed like there is not enough coffee being brewed and on the waste unit are not disposed anymore dry, compact "tablets" as before. Now is just a pile of watery coffee grounds. Thanks.

Acctually what I figured out is that the machine works just fine with ground coffee... Basically it seemed like the grinder, fore some reason, doesn't supply enough coffee to the brewer which make that not to function properly. As far as I can see, the grinder seemed to be working fine... The amount of coffeee grinded I believe is determined by the length of time the grinder is on. Does anyone know if there is a "code" to enter in the tecnical meniu (service meniu) of the unit in order to adjust that??? I know that there is a user meniu which allows you to adjust the coffe as lighter or stronger, and I have that at maximum, which should give maximum amount of coffee. So I kind of believe that there is been some alteration of the factory preset numbers (time) for the grinder unit... Any ideas???

Your chute between the grinder and the brew unit is "glued" with coffee. Take out the the brew unit, clean it under water. Take a vaccum cleaner and put the pipe into the hole where the coffee falls into the brew unit. Move the bean container "hard" in and out ( knocking inside the maschin to loose the blockage). Switch in the main menue all to factory defaults. Put the grinder "level" into the middle again. start a brew unit cleaning process. After that you coffee must be ok again. Do not use oily beans or coated beans. the block the chute.

Which setting gives a stronger brew, setting 1 or setting 10 on the grinder.? There is a setting on the side door, what does this control?

Hi On this machine you want the lever under the grinder on 4 and the lever in the middle of the door towards the + (plus) but not all the way. Back 1 mark is the strongest setting you should use. It puts more coffee in the brew unit, there for stronger. If push all the way you will get an over charge on some shots and you could also break the brew drive. The grinder lever can be moved to 3 but only when the grinder is running. This makes the grind finer (smaller #'s). Get it too fine and you will plug up the brew unit.

No coffeer comes out of the coffee spouts, maybe the steel filters are dirty, how can I cean them?

Before the instructions on how to clean the filters, Check the grinder to make sure is set properly.
It might be set too fine
.

Cleaning the brew unit filters
.

Wipe away any coffee residues from the steel filter in the funnel of the
brew unit with a sponge.
The chrome filter to the left of the funnel can be removed for thorough
cleaning. Check and clean the chrome filter regularly.
^ Remove the brew unit.
^ Fit the enclosed allen wrench (that you got with your machine) to the
connection point (see illustration in your manual) in the brew unit. Turn it
counterclockwise while supporting the chrome filter from below.
^ Remove the chrome filter with the screw.
^ Clean the filter with hot water and dry.
^ Return the chrome filter to the brew unit and secure it by turning the allen
wrench clockwise. Press slightly against the filter to allow threading.

I have the saeco vienna coffee machine and lately it does not make a good coffee, it looks more like tea. I have the setting set to the strongest coffee and I also notice that the coffee grounds are really...

You can remove top panel and find the grinder.
Remove the limit lock screw and udjust in more fine grinding manualy. So now you can have more fine grinding.
Remeber that you have to move only two step at a time, then make coffee and then move again to more fine, this will avoid blocking the grinder and also burning the grinder motor.
Also before doing the above you can ckeck the grinding burrs if they are in good condition or they need to be replaced.

Grinds coffee but no water comes thru dumps dry grounds into hopper then stops. A couple of times it has worked ok but then goes back to the same problem. Ahhhhh I need my coffee

Sounds like the grinder is grinding too much coffee than the brew unit can handle. Otherwords itis overloading the brewunit. Try reduce the aroma in the coffee menu to mild.

How can I ajust my machine the coffee is coming out weak and watery I don't get that creamy, strong coffee anymore

HI
There are more than a few things that can cause weak coffee.
Grind is too coarse. It should look like coarse sugar.
You cleaned the brew unit and left a part out or put it in incorrectly.
Grind adjustment is set too high. Turn to a lower # while the grinder is operating.
Grinder is been taken apart and not put back together correctly.
Grinder is broken and the grinds are just big chunks.

Coffee not strong enough. too much water coming out.

Try adjusting the grind on the grinder and there is also a small lever or knob in the bean hopper for adjusting the amount of coffee used per espresso.

Water but no coffee

Your grinder needs cleaning- are you using oily beans and/or storing beans in refrig/freezer. Both are a problem for grinder. Also, grinder should not be set to "fine"- it will definitely cause clogging and the situation you point out.. After celaning grinder, will need to re-set it.

No coffee coming out of the machine!

First step, increase the grinder size. Note: only change grinder setting while the grinder is spinning. If that does not work, look into cleaning your brew group screens. The machine should have came with a key to remove the screen. If your machine as a preground option try making a preground coffee without inserting coffee to see if only water will come out. If water comes out then you know its your grinder. Usually too small of grinder sizes will stop water flow.
