Problem with DELL 2408WFP

I am using the DELL 2408WFP as an HDMI based output device for my WINCE 5.0 based board. it just acts as a TV and connected through the HDMI. I am playing an audio file continuous. But each time I start playing the audio file i get some noise from the monitor speakers. It get resolved when I switch on and off the monitor once. again it comes when the audio file is started from the beginning. But I am not getting this problem with other TVs(like SAMSUNG and SONY) which continously play the audio file with no noise. what might be the problem with the DELL 2408WFP here. Please help me out to resolve this issue.

The audio out from the monitor when connected to the speaker has a lot of hissing and popping sounds with the music I play.  If I connect the audio to the back of the PC it's very clear.  I am using HDMI connection to the DELL 2408WFP monitor.

I have the same problem, but it is confined to the HDMI sound. The sound output comes out of the monitor output jack and then goes to the Dell bar hanging speaker.

The problem came on suddenly after the sound had been working fine for about two months.

The sound is a high pitched whine and effectively mutes the tv sound so that the words are barely heard above the whine.

At first I thought it was a loose ground or connection, but could not find any problem with the cable connections.

Since I could not resolve the problem, I was forced to deal with it by having the cable box analog output jacks go to my clock radio speaker. This is not a very good solution since it requires manually setting the clock radio input to the cd input, and then selecting the audio input from the DVD player to the TV output.

Because of very limited viability of my temporary solution, I would be interested if anyone knows what the problem is, although I suspect it is a audio chip problem in the monitor.

I have similar problem.  I'm using the HDMI connection from my PC to the monitor and when I connect my audio out from the monitor I get hissing and popping sounds along with the audio.  It sounds pathetic, I also hear the music and audio along with the hissing and popping.
If I connect the audio to the back of the PC the sound is crystal Clear.  I am using Vista 64 bit with NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT video card.  Trying  to Google to see if others are are seeing the same problem.  I just got my monitor on Oct 6.

To use your LCD TV as a monitor. look for a HDMI output on the computer and the TV. If you dont have a HDMI output on the computer, you will need to spend approx. $70 for video card and install it. I found "VisionTek Radeon HD 4350" to work fantastic.. Make sure your LCD TV has a HDMI INPUT. If not, you will need a newer TV. All thats needed now is a HDMI CABLE. The cable can be purchased anywhere computers are sold for between approx. $30 to $40. Depending on length. The cables can be found for much less ON-LINE. has the cables for approx. $5. and they are the high quality gold plated cables. Now plug the cable into the computer and the TV and then using your tv remote, switch to HDMI and your tv is now a computer monitor. "Note"you may have to make adjustment on computer for display size and quality. My LCD TV is a 46" and the video card described above supports HD full screen. A wireless mouse and key board are a nice feature to add. If you like movies, you can get netflix and stream movies. there are many other sites for streaming and downloading. after doing this with my computer, i dont have a cable bill any more..I hope this tip helps.

Dell 2407 Can't get rid of "No S-video input signal" message on screen. How do I get rid of this?

Your S-Video connection is referring to a round plug for a TV input signal. Most computers will not have this connection unless you have a TV based video card. If your using a TV 'monitor' as your computer's video device, their will either be a button on the monitor or your remote to allow you to choose the input signal. If you are using a VGA or HDMI or DVI cable as the connector between the two devices, most likely, the light is referring to one of these, as its video source. You will need to match the cable & monitor source detected to get a usable picture output.

Good luck.

I have Dell 2408WFP. Power button is green. Screen is black all the time. I opened it. All caps look ok. Not clear where the problem is. Any sugesstion?

Did you check the surface mounted fuses on the inverter board? If the fuse is OK, there should be 24vdc when you take the DC voltage reading between the fuse and the chassis ground.
See pictures here:!cpZZ1QQtppZZ20

You may have 24vdc power supply problem or backlights inverter board problem.

I have a 22" Westinghouse

Change the settings on your HDMI output to 720 progressive for resolution. The tv likely cannot handle the 1080 resolution, or the tv can only use interlaced (1080i or 720i) format.

In trying to use TV as a monitor, Main Menu says"switching video output" but nothing seems to do that, not even holding "auto" control, which registers there is no signal. Please...

You should make the TV as the default output by right clicking on the desktop and going to properties and choose an option that is related to the display. Once this has been achieve the signal should be sent to the TV. Also on the TV choose as an input that based on the type of cable that you use to connect to the TV. For example if it's VGA choose the input device on the TV as VGA, if it's HDMI choose HDMI.
Hope this helps. Questions? Please revert back to me

Can i connect a dvid cable from the monitor to my flat screen tv hdmi to watch videos from my computer? Thank you Martin

the Flat Screen TV if has, a HDMI input, also has VGA Input.

You must choose :HDMI or VGA, if HDMI The VGA board must Have HDMI Connector, and you connect a HDMI cable to the TV.

The HDMI is a digital signal input/output, VGA is Analog Signal. You must have Signal Converter if you Use the 2 signals

Display was working fine. Then the screen blanked

Used monitor controls to rotate through the connection options (e.g. VGA, DVI, etc). After second pass, the monitor cleared-up.
