Your settings on your PC may not be set to allow sharing to your 360. The way I do it, is I download windows media player 11, imported my itunes library and my movies I had on my PC and allowed sharing via media player. These steps can be seen in more detail by going to www.xbox.com/pcsetup

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Trying to connect wireless router so we can have access to x box live

Go to network sharing and turn network discovery on make it a private network and then go to windows media player go to bottom of library click on media sharing click share your media it should show your XBOX and if doesnt have a green check on it click on xbox and then click allow sharing. If this doesnt work I can walk you thru let me know and we will have to go another route to get it working for you but talk you through it on here. I need to know computer operating system, is the wireless network working with your computer, version of media player, and steps you have taken so far and go from there. I will be available for the next few hours so if you respond I will get back to you ASAP..

Remember to thumbs up this solution if it helps, if not comment for further assistance.
Plug your xbox into the laptop with an ethernet cable
Turn on your xbox
On your laptop press start, click on network
In the blue bar across the top click network and sharing center
click on manage network connections
right click on local area connection
click properties
click sharing tab
untick top box.
Go on your my xbox page, scroll over to the right to the system settings page, network settings, test connection.
This works for me.

My xbox 360 cant get a valid ip adress from my router to ad an extender to share media with my pc.And my internet connection is fine.

You dont need an internet connection to add an extender, but also if you are doing the xbox live network test, make sure you turn on INTERNET CONNECTION SHARING otherwise you will not connect, run a pc - xbox , then media connection test, etc, also make sure you have the media centre open on your computer also. Good Luck.

Wmp11 shareing problems.

Okay, You may not have your PC on Network Discovery mode (Maybe)

Start > Network > Network and Sharing Center

You'll want Network Discovery on, File Sharing on and Media sharing on. If it doesn't work still if you could maybe define what you have done already and stuff and I'll do my best to further assist you because I've got 3 360's all sharing my computer with ease so I know a great amount of problems with this. But that's probably the main common error with Vistas.

CONNECT XBOX 360 TO COMPUTER

you are only sharing files with your pc to xbox, you cannot connect to the net throught the pc, the xbox has to have connection to a modem/router, or a router itself which is connected to modem.

Can't stream media through xbox 360 using WMP11

I had the same problem in Windows XP and I just created a workgroup to share files on the network. Follow these steps if anyone is still having this problem. My gf has vista and must do it automatically but it's just a matter of remembering to establish a workgroup.

To summarize:
- Enable sharing on WMP 11 --> This should adjust windows firewall automatically but be sure to unblock ports for other firewalls, if need be.
- Create a workgroup --> Start...Control Panel....Network setup wizard.
Follow the steps, if you're connectnig through a router, select "this computer connects through a residentail gateway", apply this to any other computers that want to share files on this network, if necessary.
Restart computer to let the workgroup settings take effect and voila...your computer will now be detected.
