Water/ice dispenser activates at will, selector panel locks up
Model MSD2354ARW. Several times lately the dispenser has activated by itself. Opening the freezer door stops this. Touch panel and dispenser lock up and the dispenser light stays on. Main board and solenoid have been changed, but problem exists.

Re: water/ice dispenser activates at will, selector panel...
There is only two things that can cause this problem. One would be the dispencer control board. Part #61003425 The other thing is a stuck or shorted dispencer switch part #61005520 Since you say that you have already replaced the control, I would have to go with the switch, but in rare cases the new board installed in the dispencer can also be faulty. Some appliance techs will even sell you a used one and tell you it is new. You have to trust your repairman. Good luck to you and I hope this will FixYa. please dont forget to rate me. The indicator lamp can be switched off by holding the button for ordinary water (K) pressed in for about three seconds until the indicator lamp goes out. Click on the link below to download the AEG Santos S83168KD1 user manual
At the bottom of the freezer door ( remove the kick plate ) , there will be a water line . Follow this line , about 6 " to a connector . Push in on the white ring and pull out the line , at the same time . Activate the water dispensor pad and see if water flows from the line under the refrig . If it does , then the line in the door is frozen . Either raise the freezer temp for several days , so the line in the door will thaw , or , I have heard using an air tank will blow the ice out of the line in the door . If no water comes from the line under the refrig , while activating the pad , then replace the water valve , behind the refrig , the piece the wall water line connects to on the refrig .
Can I assume the ice and water are activated by two different switches? The ice switch activates the motor that dispenses ice. The water switch activates a solenoid that opens to dispense water. If you can, find the solenoid and make sure it's not stuck closed (tapping it with a screwdriver handles usually help persuade it a bit). I would tap the solenoid while pushing the water button. Listen for the solenoid to activate. If you can't activate the solenoid, find the switch and depress it with a small screwdriver. Usually, these switches are just simple little microswitches that need a little cleaning and coaxing
Door Panel Locked
Press Door Alarm and Freezer "-" at the same time, then release Door Alarm but continue pressing Freezer "-". You will see PE _ _ _ _.
Press Freezer "-" until PE #### shows on the panel.
Using Freezer "+" to move cursor, Refrigerator "+" and "-" to change numbers, bring all numbers to "0". Press Freezer "-" until PE and numbers blink. Unplug refrigerator for 45 seconds, never beyond 1 minute or you'll have to start over.
Look inside refrigerator door and locate the serial sticker. To the right of the serial number is the CODE ####. Plug in your refrigerator.
Press Door Alarm and Freezer "-" at the same time, then release Door Alarm but continue to press Freezer "-". Using the same method as above, enter the four digit CODE number you found on the serial sticker. Press Freezer "-" until PE and numbers blink. You have just reset your panel. Unplug for 45 seconds. Plug in refrigerator and you should now have full use of your door panel.
This unit has a built in safety timer mechanism. If it dispenses water for two minutes, it assumes it is flooding your house and shuts the panel down. If you are filling a pitcher of water, just stop dispensing halfway through to reset the safety timer.
I would check the door switch that turn the light on for freezer. When the door opens the switch changes to deactivate the controls on the dispenser panel and when shut should turn it back on. I will help you trace the problem because sometimes there is a broken connection from the dispenser panel to control board. Let me know, Sea Breeze
