The only feture you should look on a pendrive is the memory....nobody takes a pendrive less than 4GBs now a days. Dont go for those slim and sleek ones....they dont work well. Try getting one having a mettalic body....they are more durable. A good feture is that the pendrive should have a light at its end and nowhere else on the body....I would preffer you go for Moserbaerones....they are cheaper and more durable....If not Moserbaer then deffinately go for i-ball.

Write protection error in pen drive

Hi, It seems to be a virus problem. Install a latest antivirus and scan the pen drive through it.

Virus would not allow you to erase its contents.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

Pen drive has been write protected

I had this problem with an old 64MB jump drive. I did some hunting around on HWA as well as Googling other forums. The general agreement seemed to be that the drive was simply dead. I tried changing all the permissions, attrib in CMD, and even logging into Linux as "root" (the equivilent of Microsoft's "Administrator") to no avail. I was able to back the files up to another drive, and they regained their permission settings, but from what I read, the drive was simply dead. There is formating software for each USB on the web. One can google and download it for free inorder to formate the USB

PEn drive

You have damaged the file allocation table on the drive. You may be able to recover a little of the data. There are a couple of utilities you can use to attempt to recover data from the drive:

One is ZAR Recovery. It is a trial version that only allows you to recover a few folders at a time but give it a shot:

http://www.z-a-recovery.com/

The other is called PC Inspector:

http://www.pcinspector.de/Sites/file_recovery/info.htm?language=1

They may be able to get some of your data back, chances are you may be able to get the data back, but the file names will all be unknown, so perhaps you can figure out what file was what based on its contents when these program recover the data.
