We have a 2 year old tv 46ish" rear projection, I couldn't see a model number, we have had the color wheel replaced a few months ago and now the tv just started to turn itself off in the evenings, usually after being on for a few hours. We have to wait a few seconds to minutes to get it to turn back on. Then sometimes it turns right off again.

this sounds as if the color wheel is going out. the color wheel cost between 120.00 to 200.00 dollars online if you have the technical knolage you could change it yourself or a repair shop will do it I would guess around 300.00 but thats where I live
Did you replace the color wheel yourself ? Sometimes you have to remove a small black jumper on the DM module on the light engine and that will remove the greenish but sometimes adjustments also need to be made in the service menu.
this noise is an indication of a bad color wheel. aa dlp uses a mechanical motor to spin a coloered segment disk. this turn the white light of the lamp into your colors of pictures. Now anything that moves will eventally break. the flickering is also an indication of a color wheel going bad. eventally this will cause the set to shut down. Color wheels can be replaced. i dont know your model so i am not sure of the exact replacement procedure. at my shop we charge average 250 for such a repair
