Removing the battery from an iPhone would take a retarded amount of time and it also requires you to de-solder... Generally just turning the phone off and back on will fix this problem, or re-inserting the sim card.

Remove the battery and remove the sim wait for 10 min and then plug in and power on ,if you get the same error then you may need to service the phone...

Good luck...

I got this phone ok and i put in a new sim now when i turn on my apple iphone all it keeps saying issim locked and emergency calls only

Are you using an AT&T Sim Card?
IF you are not then the iPhone has to be unlocked in order to use with a non AT&T sim card.

You can google how to unlock iPhone or post a reply with the Model of the iPhone (2G, 3G, 3GS or 4) and the firmware Version you currently have.

To view the firmware version go to Setting-->General-->About--> Version

My iphone 2g has no sim card in it but it is stuck on the page where when i slide to unlock its only for an emergency call

It seems that your iPhone 2G is in need of activation. To accomplish this, there are 2 ways:
A. (With AT&T as your service provider)
1. If you do not already have an AT&T sim card, contact AT&T and ask for an AT&T sim card to activate service with them. Choose your plan and insert the sim card in the iPhone.
2. Connect the iPhone to iTunes and you will be prompted to follow a few steps to proceed with the activation process.
3. Sync your iPhone for the first time.
Once completed, you will have your iPhone activated and ready to use on the AT&T network.

B. (Without AT&T as your service provider)
1. You will need to download an application to jailbreak your iPhone. (This will essentially remove certain restrictions on your iPhone 2G that prevent you from utilizing your iPhone on another network, among other things).
2. Connect your iPhone to the computer and run your jailbreak application of choice.
Once completed, your iPhone 2G will be activated and jailbroken. The "emergency call" message will disappear, though you will be prompted with a "no sim card found" message until a sim card from AT&T (or another GSM carrier) is placed in the sim tray.

How to reregister iphone 2g with no contract

First option is to put a legit sim card. - this will be a problem if you bought your iPhone from another country.
2nd option is to jailbreak and unlock your phone. - if you've upgraded your iPhone to version 3.1.3, there's a great chance that you won't be able to do this option.
3rd option is to use a turbo sim which you can find on eBay. check out some items i've searched for you. - this option will work only if you have 2.30 or lower iPhone software version.
other than those 3, i don't know anything more.

I dropped my phone today and now it wont work

When you dropped it you loosened up the digitizer connector which is number 2 under the screen. Open your iPhone and resit that wire firmly back in. That should fix the digitizer not working.

If its a 3G just unscrew the 2 screws at the bottom and use a suction cup to remove the screen. Easy. But if its a 2G then Good Luck.

Iphone wont turn on after i dropped it. screen turned white than turned off. it rings but screen wont turn on. i've restored it twice but still hasn't turned on.

You may have damaged it when it was dropped. If the restore won't work then it's going to be a hardware problem.

If your lucky it might just be a ribbon cable that has come out of it's socket. If you have the first gen iPhone (2g) i wouldn't bother opening it up and it's a nightmare. But if you have a iPhone 3g then you could open it and check the cables.

good luck!

I have 3 grey lines on my screen. It started off as 1. What to do

If there's no external damage on the screen then it must be inside. According to some people that have shared the same experience, lines go smaller at warm to hot temperatures and may fade whereas if it were cold, lines grow big. Although, in most cases it will remain there unless you replace the screen or solve the problem. iPhones have a sensitive screen which generally isn't shock proof if you drop it with or without a case covering it. Prices to fix your iPhone vary but are really expensive.

My unlocked iphone asks me insert valid sim

Which iPhone is it? 2G or 3G?
If it is saying this then the unlock process probably did not work properly.
