I asked the customer how long he could hold out for a real tech to get to his problem. This is right up your alley.

Heard a lot about Tasmania. Would love to see it someday. We have plans to travel someday. Once the Stock Market stops tanking and comes back up. Lost $250 Grand of worth so far and counting.

As it is one that you would have no idea about what is causing the problem, Ol mate Murphy declares that you must consider everything!

Will be interesting to see if the customer dicides H or FY, or TFT...

Guitar amp continuous humming from speaker

Firstly, do not disconnect the speakers from the amp when it is on. Damage is possible.

You have a bad ground somewhere in the hookup. The first suspect would be your guitar-to-amp cord shielding connections at each plug, then, the wiring in your guitar. Try changing each of these to another as a trial, one at a time.

It sounds like speakers are loading down internal DSP - contact any Guitar Center and ask one of their techs for sure. Double check your speaker connections also.

I have a Peavey Valve King 112. When I plug in my guitar I get nothing. The power light is on and the preamp is on as well. There is just silince. No humming or crackling.

This could be anything. You could try swapping the preamp tubes. If it were a power amp tube problem, it is likely the mains fuse would have blown, Since the pilot lamp is still on, we will assume that the problem is at the preamp level. This absence of signal can be caused by a dead tube, or more complexly, by a faulty resistor or capacitor in the signal path. If you can't resolve the problem by swapping preamp tubes with a known good one, you should take the amp to a tech experienced in servicing tube guitar amps. Any good tech should be able to sort this out within an hour of labor time. I doubt it will require any expensive parts. It may even be as simple as a loose/bad connection, either from manufacturing, or from normal use. Pro tube amps are subjected to levels of heat, vibration and electrical stresses that consumer electronic gear never sees.

Yamaha g100-112 guitar amp.power light comes on no sound.Transistor heat sink cold

do you have a low hum from the speaker when u turn it on? if no, then take it to the repair tech. probably power on indicator is okay but power supply does not reach the pre-amp or the power amp section. case maybe bad filter capacitor or bad series power line resistor. get it checked. i sincerely doubt internal speaker loose connections.

I have a new '65 Deluxe reverb Reissue Fender Tube Amp and I'm not getting power to the amp after I plug it in and turn it on. Ive checked other things in the outlet and they work, so it is not the outlet....

If you have power and a good connection to the guitar, don't take it apart - take it back. It has a warranty and any reputable dealer will give you another one - just ask for a test before leaving the store/shop.

Try a different guitar and cord. If still problem, give the amp a bump without guitar plugged in. If amp makes noise, there is an intermittent internal connection,

Peavey CS-800 PA power amp 1 channel is out

Hi Bill,

It's a log time ago that I repaired those amps., but I give it a shot.
There's a speakerprotection after the finals, what I remember it's a triac (SAC187, or something like that).
You will find it at a small pcb at the back of the amp. Normally it has three legs but the centre is cut away. If it's down you will measure 0 Ohm at the output, also with a switched off amp.

Thats all I can remember, it was about 25 years ago.

Maybe it helps,
Gerard

My fender twin has alot of buzzing and hum noise

It is usually caused by interference somewhere in the room. A major source is art CRT such as a TV ot computer monitor. First try turning off any other electic devices in the room. Your could also see if there is a ground lift switch on the amp. If that dosen't do it, you can try lining the cavity of your guitar with tin foil. I t sounds weird but it does cut back on some interference. If none of those work, bring your amp to your local tech and have the preamp tubes tested. It may be that one of them is going bad.

Hi lumberman597

The cool thing about guitar amps is that you can mess with the knobs until you find the sound that you like. There is no particular way to use it, just try to find a tone that suits you. Start with gain controls down and tone knobs at 12o'clock. Turn up the gain(one at a time) to get distortion and more sustain to your sound. Turn the distortion up midrange down and treble up for metal sounds, more bass and midrange for bluesy sounds. just play around with it and you will see what I mean. Here is a guide from Fender on how to setup your guitar. If you are not sure, a good guitar tech can make any old axe feel and sound great with a good setup
unfortunately, Fender do not have an electronic copy of your owners manual to download, but you can buy one for $5 direct from them here It is only a 1 page manual.... so you will get more from just messing with it.

Musicians spend there whole lives tuning and tweaking knobs to get the sound they are looking for. It wont take you long to start doing the same.:)

robotek
