Re: bought the cam used need to know how to load the dvd...
The DVD-RAM media for this camcorder is encased in a plastic cartridge. Several companies make the media for this corder, Maxell calls it DVD-RAM Camcorder (DVD RAM 4.7) 2.8GB. You must verify it shows compatibility with Hitachi Camcorders, as the Sony media does not use the cartridge but is the same ram disc, so you could easily buy the wrong type.

I am so so sorry my friend, but like millions of other people you too have found that DVD disks for recording movies simply do not work. The disks are 98% un-reliable for movie recordings and this is why people like myself a Pro Movie maker for 30 years keep telling the silly sods who make movie camera WE WANT TAPE cameras back, and the only one which ever worked well was 8mm tape. I surgest you call those fools on the Sony line and tell them that you like us do NOT trust these Sony disk cams on 01256 828828 UK number. I will be pleased if you let me know how you get on, because these disks simply are rubbish.
so you want to charge me more for a cam i already bought that should have had the software.. that is a rip off and i will start posting about your jazz cams and so you know i work in a job that intitles knowing people so i hope you guys like your rip off cam cause im sending it back.
i have vista and this worked for me
make sure cam is off and usb it to ur pc.
turn on cam and chose back up to pc
go to computer and open the foloders on your cam
minimize the page and drag the sd folder to your desktop
transfer files to windows movie maker
edit publish to whatever you want(dvd)
if you have vista you dont need the camera software,in fact the software sucks neway
When you bought that CAM it should came with the interface cable and software to transfer from your CAM to DVD or your computer if you lost the software you still download from that factory Web
It won.t help you if now you will buy another CAM DVD, your previous mini DV tape still need a computer to burn into the DVD format
Give me your CAM branch and model I can tell you more OK
The answer depends on a lot of things. If you plug your cam in and it doesn't make that happy plug and play sound, then it could possibly be your usb port. If your PC recognizes that a USB periphial has been connected but does not install the drivers correctly, then you should make sure that you have the right cam drivers for your operating system. If that has went correctly then there's one more test to see if your pc has recognized the camera. Go to my computer look at all of the drive letters for one that is not there whenever the camera is unpluggedc. If a drive shows up when the cam is plugged in, then it recognized your cam, especially if you can navigate to folders within that are labeled DCIM or RTAV.
