Open Question

Hc194D - no power

When i came home from work today, one of my monitors wasn't working. i have two hc-194D monitors, one was working fine (the one i'm using now). neither one had showed any signs of trouble yesterday - i usually leave my computer on all the time.

  • no power LED
  • speaker constantly clicks when i plug either the AVI cable, analog cable or the power cord in
  • i've swapped cords and i've tried using another power cord
  • opened up the monitor, nothing looks fried or out of the ordinary

Hello,

The clicking is a sure sign of a bad power supply. Go to our web site and check out the pictures of what blown capacitors look like, www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm Now open the back of your monitor again and look at the power supply board. Check the capacitors, the tops should be flat if hey have any bulging at all then they will need to be replaced. If any are damaged then replace them all because the rest will soon pop too. Be sure to use high temp replacements that will be marked 105c. Do not use caps from Radio Shack they are only rated for general purpose not high frequency use. You can order the correct ones from several places on the internet or we can supply them for you. The values you will need to get are going to be marked on the sides of the ones coming out but will be like 220uf, 470uf 1000uf etc. and have a voltage rating. When you insert the new caps in the board be sure to have the polarity stripe going the same direction as the old one goes. If you have any more questions just let me know.

I hope this helps, If so please rate our solution.

Open it up and look at the capacitors. The round "tin can" looking components. If the tops appear bulged, then replacing them may help. Check out the YouTube video... and web site...

Have a hanns 194 d monitor. i can;t get the sound to work. Help!

Are you connecting the audio cable from the PC audio line out jack (green) to monitor audion line jack (green) with stereo mini phone jacks? You should verify the the speakers in the monitor are working by feeding it with the sound from MP3 player to narrow down the problem.

Blank screen .indicator light shows healthy

You may have bad inverter circuits, or bad capacitors in the power supply, or bad lamps. You need to open it up and inspect inside the unit and report back what you see inside so we can guide you further, see example pf failed monitord due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Does not fit dell

You have not explained what type of video connector is on the computer's graphics card and the video cord/connector on the LCD monitor.
I suspect the connector on the computer's video card is a 15pin DSub connector and the monitor cord has a DVI connector.
You need an adapter to allow you to connect these together, Click on this link to this WEB site to select an adapter to suit your monitor cable :-

My Hanns-g HC194D doesn't display anything - just clicks when power on. Using VGA (blue) connection to KVM.

This monitor is 2 1/2 weeks off warranty. With nothing to lose, I called Hanns-G and they provided a courtesy extension of my warranty. As you suggested, they believe it is probably either a circuit or the power supply. I pay shipping to them, they repair and ship back. Only thing not covered would be LCD screen (1 yr warranty anyway so not expected). I am very pleased with their responsiveness - only need to supply proof of purchase (which I scanned onto system when I bought).

Thanks to louie12fix for an very helpful reply.

The blinking green power indicator means the unit is trying to startup but failing. You can try replacing filter caps in the low voltage power supply.
