Question about Apple iPod touch

IPod Touch screen is completely frozen

I have a pretty big dilemma here, help is appreciated. Here is the story:
I got my iTouch and replaced it with my old 1st gen nano and put all of the music I had on my library. So from there I figured, heck, why not control it manually? Well, this began to come to permanence when my computer caught a nasty virus and wouldn't even turn on, so my father gave me some hardware to wipe out the hard drive of everything it had, including my library. Now, keep in mind, I have gotten much other content on my iTouch via wireles internet. I try plugging in the iTouch when the computer began to erase the iTouch due to the fact you "can't combine or share iTunes libraries" (even though the iTunes library I downloaded had no content on it). I immediately took at out. Yea, not good. Not only is that not good, some of the purchases I made via the computer was not backed up, along with my purchases via the iTouch. Also, I can't download iTouch patches without my whole library being wiped out. ALONG with that, while I was playing Spore: Origins, the iTouch crashed. Now, the screen remains to have only the Apple logo in the center of the screen. It won't go to the home screen. It only remains on the Apple logo display screen. I've tried re-starting it and charging it and re-starting it again and again. I'm at ends with myself, and it seems I have no choice but to restore my iTouch and lose all my purchases along with my music, and receiving none of the above back. Is there anything I can do? I've been told to go to the Genius Bar at a local Apple store, but that'll be the day when I'm told i've wasted $400+ on music and other miscellaneous items. Help!

My itouch is frozen and i cant move anything around

Have you tried reseting it? Hold down the "Home" button and the "Sleep/Wake" Button for about 7-8 seconds, or until the Apple logo shows up. After that it should be fine. If that doesn't work, try restoring it, plug it into your computer and open up iTunes, then select your iPod Touch in the list to the left. Now click the "Restore" button located under the big picture of your iPod Touch.
Hope this helps!

My itouch is completely frozen on the power off screen. i can't turn it off; i tried to restore it and that isn't working either.

Try this: Press and hold the wake/sleep button and the home button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple logo should appear on the screen. Release the buttons and it should work like normal. Hope this helps you!

My itouch has freezed

Try this: Press and hold the wake/sleep button and the home button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple logo should appear on the screen. Release the buttons and it should work like normal. Hope this helps. If it still does not respond to touch, then your screen may have been damaged in some way and it will need to be replaced.

Per the first Google result for "reset ipod touch", http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/10/04/how-to-reset-iphone-and-ipod-touch-hard-reset-or-reboot/ says:

"Press and hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button simultaneously at the same time for at least ten seconds, then the LCD display will clear and the Apple logo appears on the black background. When Apple logo appears, reset is done"
