OR it's just a driver problem. What you have to do is reset all setting on your motherboard, bios and than video card setting ( drivers)
OR download appropriate video driver for your card for Vista.

My HP omni 100 all in one has vertical lines on pictures only, how do I fix this?


In most cases, stationary lines mean the screen is failing. If there is flickering, the LCD cable or a connection could be the problem. If the screen is normal brightness, the inverter is most likely not the cause.

It may only show up only on pictures because they are the only images with solid blocks of color.

Welcome to Fixya. Vertical line on the screen was caused by a bad video card or cable. If the video card is embedded or built in on the motherboard of the computer. It means that the motherboard needs to be replaced and would be better for a technician to check it so that we can avoid more problems. If you can check the warranty of the computer so that you can send it for repair free of charge.

ur video card heats to much, so check if the fan in ur video card is working, if ur video card didn't have a fan try to install one

Immediately upon boot, vertical lines appear on screen. After several minutes the screen turns pick and the windows cursor appears. there is no further change in the display. Mouse appears to work. Not...


My first check would be video drivers if this is a newly built computer. If it is a computer that has been running a while and the problem suddenly appeared I would reseat the RAM and attempt to boot into safe mode, suspecting a virus infection.

You need a new LCD screen.
Thats a common problem with those panels
Or can be a hardware defect that occurs when the screen wasn't properly tested at the factroy

It sounds like you installed a video codec or driver which isn't compatible with your other codecs or drivers.  If you replace them both, you'll be covered, won't you?

Laptop is HP zd8639ea 17" screen. A thin vertical line of very small flashing dots has appeared in the centre of the screen. How to get rid or is it replacement screen time?

There's a (very) slim chance it's a cable issue. More than likely, however, it is, as you suspect, the monitor.

If you're handy w/ tools and such, you can replace the monitor yourself. It'll cost at least $225US so, shop around for a good deal. (Aside from the motherboard, the monitor is the most expensive part of your laptop.)

You can run a test of your video to confirm the problem. However, when the issue is localized on the screen like that, that's a red flag that your problem is hardware.

For now, you can connect an external monitor to your laptop. In fact, that's the best way to pin down the problem to the monitor (or cables connecting to the monitor). Do this before shelling out the bucks for a new or refurbished monitor.
If the problem persists while using an external monitor, then, the problem is still likely to be a hardware issue - but it isn't your monitor. The issue is in your video circuitry. Now you're talking about a new motherboard.

I also recommend you find the product service manual for your laptop and follow the steps for disconnecting the monitor from the laptop. Then, reconnect it. See if there are any changes in the symptoms. If you need help w/ this, just let us know.
